Tar or Rubber layered all inside and outer edge of wheel well and some on the paint!
Okay so I go to wash my car the day after going to Gainesville Raceway, and on my right front tire wheel well there is either tar or burnt rubber all layered and stuck inside my wheel well, outer edge of my wheel well, and some on the side of the car, I scratched about 1/2 of it off on the wheel well, but its to much for the rest. What can I do to get this off, a mitt wouldnt do it.

im gonna do the goo gone thing, but some of the tar is on the paint right around the wheel well, can i still use goo gone and after soaking it what should I take the tar off with so i dont scratch the paint!
Edit: Acutally people are saying its VHT and bug and tar remover will work, ill give that shot, can I use it on the paint?

BTW how did you do at the track and do you ever make it to Orlando "SpeedWorld"?

Goo gone is 100% citrus based. It's not going to hurt anything... why I suggested it.
I would rewax no matter what you use... no product will remove tar or (especially) rubber without stripping the wax. Period.
Here's their website.. Iv'e used it a bunch of times before... (many many years, and on my fiberglass boat)

used lifter 1 bug and tar remover, took 2 hours to get 90% off out of wheel wells and got it off my paint, should I just leave it alone now since its not noticeable, can VHT hurt anything if its coated a little on the wheel wells or on anything else such as my headers and other parts underneath the car?

darrin how long did it take you, it took me 2 hours of labor....I had to repeatly spray the bug and tar remover and wipe off like 7-8 times, and i still only got 90% off of the wheel wells. Then I had to spray it on my paint to get some of the sticky stuff off that wouldnt come out during the wash, and I got all that off, I then had to spray water on that section, dry it, and then wax using cleaner wax.

Spray Nine has always worked for me with road tar/rubber. I spray it on & rub with my bare hands...takes less than 5 minutes a wheel well. Washes off with soap & water(Dawn).
I buy mine at the local Boat U.S. or Home Depot.
"Marine Spray Nine easily removes: waterline and bottom fouling including oil slick, algae, light rust, etc. from all areas of the watercraft.
Also removes "top side" soils including grease, oil, pollution residue, fish and bait residue, Helps control mold+mildew, and much more."

diesel fuel work awsome and wont hurt the paint. i use it on bugs and tar ( and the occasional burn rubber rubber on the car) soak a rag with it and apply over the areas rubbing gently.

Tar or oil and grease, hands down TARMINATOR by stoner products. you can get it at any murray auto. This stuff just dissolves it on contact. It doesn't hurt the paint either, but deffinitly wax afterward. I use it on my car all the time and I have a black CL-S. Ecspecially with all the construction going on you always wind up with some tar or oil.
