Taking on 2 Grand Prix GTP's

Friends of mine are Pontiac Grand Prix Owners,
they have been ribbing me a bit about my
slow 2002 TL-S..

We finally went out to a runway to race.

I did have 3/4 tank of gas.

This was my first time to race the car. The
weather was real chilly, prolly bout 50,
and slight breeze..

My TL-S is totally stock..

The first time, I race a silver 2001 GTP,
I turn VSA off, and put in D3, when we
go, I just stomp the gas. He cheats
and leaves early, rolling the car a bit on
3, rather than go, He is instantly a
car length ahead. I slowly start gaining
on him, in the 1/2 mile we raced. But
after 3rd gear, I think, I couldn't pull
on him anymore.

The second time, we went the other way.
This time he doesn't cheat! We are tied
for about the first 100 feet, or so, then
I really start pulling away from him. He
gives out though just short of a 1/4 mile,
he complained about a signpost that was
too close to the road. I had him though.

His car is totally stock, and very nice. I
didn't get to race him again. But a race
against this car, totally depends on the
launch. I think perfect launch to perfect
launch, and no factory freaks, the TL-S
will win.

Next car is a 2002 Black GTP with pulley
pulling an extra 4lbs of boost.
We line up, he pulls off the line perfectly, not
smoking the tires. Aparently it takes
more talent to drive the GTP's with all
that torque, and keep from smoking the
tires. He pulls about 1/2 car a head
instantly. When I hit second gear,
I started pulling on him very slowly,
by the time I hit 3rd gear, I just stayed
with him, I couldn't pull on him anymore,
and I think he started pulling on me
perhaps.

We turn around, to race again. This
time, I screw up totally, and start out
in D2, talk about loosing a race instantly!
I'm still new to the car at only 1000 miles.

Well I drove away, not having to hold
my head in shame, our little 3.2 non
supercharged car can hang with a
3.8 liter with a supercharger. But I
didn't spank either one of them either.
Stock to stock, these cars are soooo
close. Both the GTP's where 2 doors.
Even though the GTP with the pulley
mod beat me by a bit, I believe that
perhaps the ECU was dumping some
of his extra power. I think it should
have been faster than it was.

I think I need some headers now..

Good run kid, get some mods, then go back and smack that ass!

Start with the intake, then do the larger mods.

nice! Headers will help that crappy 4th gear. You'll pull all the way until 120.
