i reved my engine to about 5k in park and my engine burst into flames.... is it bad to rev in park?

 

bwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....sorry but that was some funny ass shit...again sorry about your motor dude...and the answer to the question is YES!!!!!!!!!!!!The engine isn't under any sort of load in park and will over-rev and screem really high w/ little gas...be-care-ful. Also how did you know it was ur trans...usually what happens when a motor is reved hard in park is the t-belt w/ snap or slip causeing serious internal engine damage...I don't know how or why it burst into flames though. Again sorry for the laughing but that was some funny shit when I first read it...good luck

I think the max the ECU will allow you to rev WHILE NOT MOVING is 5K or 5.5K rpm. At least thats is how it is on my 99 TL.

Did your CL burn up green? Did you put the fire out? Are you joking?!?

nah it was my moms camry that i drive as a beater.... it was white smoke if that helps and it smoked for about 15 minutes... someone told me it may be my water pump... the explosion also caused some miscellaneous metal pieces from places in the engine to scatter over my firends driveway. It also caused a hole in the radiator piping... now when i try to start it.. it doesnt even turn over. Hopefully it's just the water pump and not major engine damage!
