synthetic oil
Just got my first change at 3700 miles today.
I have used synthetic oil since 86 when I had my turbo and all my engines have been fine.
I had a 99 TL that I used synthetic oil in as well at the same dealership..
OK..to the point... the dealer service writer tell me that they have found synthetic oil to eat away at the seals in the engine. He also said people have a tendency to not change their oil as often.
Well of course! You can go a bit further with synthetic.
So what is the deal here...? has anyone else heard this from an acura dealership...?
The dealership did offer the synthetic oil as well.

Dealer is full of it, go to amsoil.com and read all about oil. I put in amsoil in and will change the filter at 6k then the oil after 12k. why? because I know someone (CL-S) that had his amsoil oil analyzed after 10k. The results came back that said he was good until 25 k if he change his filter. There is a differents in filters a good one cost about $10. I payed $5.50 qt for amsoil and installed everything myself. I have always changed my petro oil every 3k. Not anymore. Use synthetic and save the environment.
