Synthetic Motor Oil case, Filter deals... {plz share here}

Where do you all get your 12 quart cases/filters and how much?
e.g.
Amsoil, Mobil 1, etc.

(Filter Part Numbers much appreciated too)

I hear that Amsoil is a tad more expensive than Mobile 1 and harder to find?

Including TAX I change my car for $35 with Amsoil,, I can have the warehouse ship it to your door but that adds extra cost,,, find your area dealer at www.amsoil.com ,,, once you find him it's as easy as buying from kmart,,, filter pn sdf20,, supersize is sdf44,,,

DAMM U :P . We don't have that hook up here anymore...shit we never had it to begin with. The only thing we had was the 5 quart jugs that "were NOT" Fully-Syn. It was actually Tri-Syn. I have never seen a Fully-Syn 5 quart jug. U think u can snap a photo for me to let me see what a 5 quart jug looks like . No really .

LOL, but never have I seen the Fully-Syn in a 5 quart bottle at any of the Wallmarts in my area. Man I swear if I found one place with 30, guaranteed I would take them all in one trip. Or as many as I can cram in the cabin, trunk, and strap to the car.

Whats the advantage in having an oversized filter rather than stock size again?

Oh i got it:
One of the things people are interested in is going to a larger filter. Why? With a larger filter you can increase your oil capacity (volume) as well as the surface area and cooling of the filter. Both will help your engine's lubrication system to run a little more efficiently. When it comes to racing, this is important, every little last bit helps. "Why would [insert manufacturer name here] *not* use a larger filter if it needed it?" There are many reasons for a manufacturer to pick a supplier or design- application, cost, availability, trade restrictions, and so on. Most manufacturers pick a filter design and stick with it as long as they can and across as many models as they can.

U know I wanted to do the same thing my last oil change. But when I talked to one of the guys that I know that works at DAP he told me that an oversized filter will drop the oil pressure. He went on to explain to me that on a high RPM engine that could result in an oil starvation problem up high. He also told me that with a thicker oil that would raise the pressure. For me here in Fla. 5W-30 is water in this climate. So I've been using 10W-30 for some time now. It could sound ligical to use 10W-30 along with an oversized filter and u should be within spec. But the only true way to know is to test it with an oil pressure gauge. Thats the reason why I went with the standard filter, but still use 10W-30...Fully-Syn of course....$17 for 5 quarts...ERGGGG ...j/k .

Yeah I changed my oil recently and noticed that the Purolator PureOne PL14459 is a little bit smaller than the stock filter. Then I looked over at my roommates oil changing stuff for his '95 Integra and sure enough, there was the same PL14459! Common parts!... doesn't surprise me. But wouldn't a 3.2L V6 require more oil filter capacity than a 1.8L I4? I guess it's more of a measure of quantity of oil rather than engine size... okay 4 qts. vs. 5qts...

correct me if im wrong but my understanding of the way oil works is...the first number is the oils flow rate or pour rate something like that at cold temps...and the second number is the oil ( protection factor )if you will at high temps?...so by going to a 10w30 you're just taking longer for the oil to flow through your engine at cold startup but at high operating temps you still only have a 30 weight protection factor....i myself use 0-30 as i have frequent cold starts with short trip s (2 miles) to work and the M1-105 mobile one over sized filter

Type-R, what are your thoughts on the Mobil-1 filter. This is what I used on my civic and am now using on the CL-S. Is this filter worth the $10?

Can someone please take a pic of the mobil-1 fully synthetic fluid they use? I thought that the TRI-Synthetic was a full synthetic oil. Is the Mobil-1 Super-Syn fully synthetic?

U know I asked another friend about the same question not to long ago and he as well confirmed that higher weight oil does raise oil pressure. He also speculated that if I did use an oversized filter that I should be within stock specs interm of oil pressure, rather than the higher pressure that I am running now.
