SUV's with HID's and Navi
Hey guys, I'm looking into getting a New/Used SUV with HID's and Navi. Any ideas on what's available out there? I was thinking about the Chrysler Pacifica, but its not really a truck with 4WD. The MDX is great, but no HID's. Any ideas?

2004 SUV has projector-beam halogen headlights. They look like HIDs when they're off because they have projector lenses. Dunno how they look when on but I'm sure they're bright.
Not to mention 2003 & older owners have installed aftermarket HID conversion kits on theirs so I'm sure you could always do that.
You know instead of getting a piece of shit Crysler product.
I swear I can't understand people that would buy a sub-$50k domestic, sub-$50k German, or a lower-end Jap brand for other than a performance vehicle or a beater. Like for a main vehicle they plan to drive daily and put lots of miles on.
Why the heck would you buy something unreliable or costly in the long term?
I also couldn't stand a Nissan because of their interiors, but that's personal preference. You know, as opposed to proven reliability surveys and testing.

Take a LONG HARD LOOK at that Pacifica. My dad has one. You will be amazed at how well that thing handles. The entire chassis and suspension are 100% Mercedes Benz. The Pacifica comes within .03 g's on a skid pad as compared with our CLS6.
The drive train is front wheel drive only if there is grip. If the fronts lose traction, it switches to rear wheel drive, and if the rears lose grip, it goes to all wheel drive.
And there are some very nice standard features. All of the pedals con be adjusted electrically. The driver power seat controls are mounted high up on the drivers door, and it looks like a seat. You just push what part of the seat you want to adjust. The first TWO rows of seats all are heated. The navi is smack dam in the middle of the speedo, not the middle of the dash. Power opening/closing rear hatch.
And in typical Chrysler fashion, the window sticker is overpriced, so, with no trade in, you should be able to get a $36,000 pacifica for about $30,000.
But really, check out the handleing. For something this big, it is awesome!

my parents just picked up an '04 navigator. it has nav and hid's. it's pretty damn pimp.
they also have an X5 4.4i. it has bi-xenons but no nav.
my dad says the X5 is the best all around vehicle he's ever owned.

i seen some awsome deals on the benz ml 55 on ebay. 342 hp 376 tq is great. navigation, hids, 18in wheels, painted calipers, beautiful interior 4x4 . they have a handful available for under 35 grand. that would be my choice.

My wife has a Pacifica
I looked at the MDX, the RX300, the Pilot, the Explorer, the Envoy, and the XC90. We picked the Pacifica because of the price and performance. We have a loaded (everything but the hands free cell phone option) Pacifica and I paid just under $36k. I can also speak about how safe it is as well. My wife was hit on the passenger side by a car at about 40 mph. I am very happy with my decision. Go luck on your decision.

The QX-56 is a ridiculous contraption on par with a Chevy Suburban.
The MDX has awesome crash test ratings and real life experiences posted by owners on MDX forums.
The X5 V8 is a damn cool SUV.
I would never buy an ML anything after what an absolute hunk of crap the ML320/350 is and has been. So many many fed up owners, lawsuits, and MLs on used car lots it's pathetic.

the m class has been like poison for MB.
before they got the 4.4, my parents concidered a ML55. it seemed pretty badass with the amg options and panoramic sunroof. but i'm glad they got the BMW.

That ML55 was about the fastest SUV on the market when it came out; but, now a number of SUVs can outperform.
When is MB expected to discontinue the ML finally?? It's been a thorn in their side since it debuted.

For auto enthusiasts I can't believe some of you don't know what a massive turd the ML320/350s are for Benz.
Aside from terrible build quality, they basically start falling apart as soon as they're off the lot (surprisingly they're not made by Land Rover lol - oh if you don't know LR's are also piles of unreliable crap).
Several clients where I work alone have come in looking to get out of their MLs that are less than a year old because they can't stand always taking it in for repairs. One lady was suing Benz to buy it back from her. I believe there are also some class action lawsuits being put together regarding the MLs as well. The sad part is since they're crap, no one is giving a good trade-in value on them.
I guess if you don't work in the automotive field you might not be as aware of these things since Benz and Land Rover tend to keep these things quieter than more generic cars like Fords or Chevys.
Take my word for it (or don't, it's your money to risk) - stay away from the ML class and Land Rovers in general.
Don't tell me you guys haven't heard about the build quality issues with the new E-class either...

As J-Rock stated, the ML is the worst luxury anything you can ever own...
