Suspension upgrade questions....please help

hey fellas....i am asking some redundant questions i know, but since the search has been disabled, i must ask again...

First off..recently...while driving my CL-S i have notice more body roll and less stability in turns...
i know this has been a big complaint about the CL-S..overall handling isnt bad in my opinion during everyday driving, but for the more spirited driving that i cant resist, the flaws in the CL-S handling put a slight damper on things for me personally.

I have been planning on dropping the car with Comptech Springs because i like the aggressive, "raked" look and the drop isnt too low..

SO my questions are as follows....

1)..Strut bars..like the one that Shawn S has just installed...are they worth it?...necessary?

2)Sway bars....any problems with them when you use comptech springs to drop the car??

3)Shocks and Struts...do you have to change these when you drop the car??..What type to get??

4)Could i do all of this to my CL-S

4)Assuming that i do ALL the above to improve the suspension of my CL-S....will the ride quality of my CL-S suffer???

Thanks for the Help in advance...any suggestions would are very appreciated....

I'm getting the comptech package put on this friday at PAA. I was leaning towards the eibach springs and comptech springs but when I saw the cost involved with shocks, camber correction etc., I decided to go with the comptechs.

1-Optional. It helps chasis rigidity in the front but you have to becareful since the back doesn't have a upper bar that it won't swing/fishtail on you because the front is stronger than the back.

2-Hell no. This piece will help eliminate body roll from side to side and make the car more responsive in steering. Neuspeed makes bars and Eibach is supposed to be making them but that's what they've said for years.

3-If you get the Comptech you won't have to change the shocks. If you get the eibach, h&r, etc., anything that has more of a drop you will want to get shocks at some point. You won't have to right away but down the road you will. At that point you have the choice between koni and few others. We don't have struts. Also, if you go with a more aggressive drop you'll need to get a camber correction kit. Also, the lower the drop more chances of bottoming out and hitting speed bumps etc., So if the roads you travel on are complete crap than the Comptech would a safe bet.

4-Yes. You'll need the right tools but you can do it. It will take time.

5-You're ride won't be as soft. You will feel more bumps but it won't be like driving in a truck. If you go with the comptechs you'll just install and drive. If you go with something else then you'll have to fine tune it. That is, you can adjust the shocks for the firmness that will really affect your ride quality.

Not a problem. Well, there is not "offcial" package that's just what i'm calling it because i'm going for the whole shabang: headers, exhaust, sways, springs. I live up in Montgomery County in a town called Hatfield. Are you going to be at PAA or Englishtown next friday? If not we're prolly going to have a philly acrua meet with NSXNEXT, Xenon7, MarcS, BigPimp and whoever else wants to show.....no date on that yet but before PAA. If you just got the suspension mods it would run you about 900 including taxes.

Corrections...

OK I want to clear up a couple of things, just to make sure everyone has the correct information;

-We do have struts

-Eventually just like other springs, with the Comptech springs, you will have to replace the struts (happened at about 45k miles for me, and this is with the springs installed at about 3k on the car or so)

Please feel free to correct any of the points I have made if I am in error, but I think most of the information is correct.

Dropping your car would not improve anything except for the "image". Even the suspension on the CL-P is good enough, you don't need to upgrade your Type S's. Just a waste of money. . Read below :thumbsdn:

I love the acura drive train and suspension; that part of the car can't be beat but the seats are a real pain.
Enough flaming, now serious stuff .

4)Could i do all of this to my CL-S
Yup, you definately can do them all. You can even do it yourself (assumed you have the right tools and you are not Amir or Nabster Sorry to you two, I couldn't resist ). I put the springs in by myself and it took 6hrs. Should be much faster if you have some extra hands.

Sway and strut bars would improve your ride quality w/o any side effects. The springs, however, would cause your ride to be stiffer so you feel the bumps better . I have Comptech's and it's all good, just took a little while to get used to.

So put them all in and get rid of the body roll and the boat feeling. Good luck

-I don't think we have sturts, but i'm dumb so

-As Jsuppi says, Replacement of stock shocks will need to occur down the road. With the Comptechs you are just pushing the cost to down the road. I'm more than happy to do that

I don't think we have sturts , but I believe we do have struts.

Just out of curiosity, what does it run to have the comptechs installed (springs and "struts")?

Hmm... didn't know Comptech had struts. I knew they had springs and sways, but didn't know they had struts/strut bars.

what comptech sells as their struts (aka shock absorbers) are actually adjustable koni yellows. which I have ... along withe eibach springs.

i have the stock struts and springs in my garage if somebody is confused as to whether or not our car came with them from the factory.

You can expect to pay anywhere from 50-100 per corner (so *4 = 200-400 dollars) for the springs/struts. Since the spring wraps around the strut, it is the exact same work to change the spring as it is to change the strut. Just the last two pieces you take apart. I have always recommened that you change both at the same time, since the stock strut was designed with the stock spring rate and height in mind. I had no desire to duplicate the effort, so I changed them both at the same time.

I did the work myself on my car, so it cost me nothing.
