suspension confirmation
ive searched on the forums about this, but i want to be absolutely sure....
will 1998-2002 (6th gen) accords suspension work for 2001-2003 cl type-s? ive seen some coilovers for the 6th gen accords and some mentions v6 or v4 etc...but would that matter for our cl's? i checked on some postings and it seems people say its ok, but i want to be sure before i get the coilovers for the 6th gen accords.
thanks

Im pretty sure they fit but when you look at online stores it will usually say all the cars it fits
like if you go to aweb site and look up tein coilovers it will say "application: accordV6 98-02 CL 02-03 TL 99-03"
thats usually what I do to make sure it fits cross reference

haha..that would work too i guess...but sometimes those guys dont know what theyre talking about..especially on ebay! im pretty sure all 98-02 accord suspension would work on our cl's...but im not sure if it matters about v6/v4 or coupe/sedan etc....
phisically they should all fit with absolutely NO problem, where the issues come in, is in spring rates, and the shock valving
with the softest to hardest (both springs and shocks, since they kinda go hand in hand together) would probably be: Accord 2 door I4, Accord 4 door I4, Accord 2 door V6, Accord 4 door V6, CL, TL

Yeah, I bought my Eibach springs from a guy that had them installed on a V6 accord. They are interchangable but dont buy accord 4 cylinder springs unless you want to be really slammed. If you're buying coilovers, it shouldnt make a difference as their spring rates are pretty cookie cutter (Tein 7k front 4k (or 3) rear, Tanabe Pro OS-C 8k front 4k rear, K-Sport crazy high spring rate, etc.) If I were going to do daily driver coilovers I'd do Tanabe Pro S-OC (or Pro-SS if I could find them) just to be different.

then the valving would still come into effect since not only is that based on spring weight, but also the weight of the car (and how it handles and such) , so they might be a little on the soft for our heavier CL's and TL's, and again they like kinda generic again sadly, but a set of adjustable valving coilovers would fix that right up though
since i had my tokico hp not too long ago... i was thinking of just getting the ground control sleeves.... or if not, i was looking into the NEX coilovers since those guys whos one of the main distributors are in the bay area...im not looking to spend crazy money on dropping the ride some more.
anyone know a carrier for ground control sleeves in the bay area where i can just walk in to purchase instead of waiting for shipping...i got a buddy who would install them this sunday so i do not want to wait for shipping

, much rather use regular drop springs or go stiaght to normal coilovers (issues are with fitmit and such of those sleeves)
Ground control sleeves have a lot of support in the Honda community but at $400, you may want to spend a bit more to get the whole coilover setup. It depends on the shock, but the disadvantage of coilover sleeves is that you lose suspension travel the more you drop it as the shock is at a static height and your ride quality "could" be poor if you drop it really low. One of the good things about K-Sport, Megan, (I think Nex...) etc. is that it is dual adjustable and you lower the whole shock assembly at the bottom and you can fine tune the spring perch height to get the right pre-load on the spring. I hear good things about AMR too but I think they're a bit more expensive.
One thing to keep in mind, if you go cheap now, you may pay later, either money or contentment. If the Tokico's cannot handle the spring rate of the GC's and/or the height at which you're riding, you'll either hate the ride or kill the shocks in short order.
Or maybe I'm too anal and you can put sleeves on there and it will be perfectly fine, I just dont like taking chances.
