Suspension ???

Took the car to Tampa on Sat and on the way up and back got to do some 90+ driving.

1st. There seems to be a metallic rattle which is noticeable only at high speed when you hit bumps/expansion strips. Sounds like a heat shield or something like that. Sounds like it is coming from the front/center of the car.

2nd. On certain dips when the suspension "squats" there are rubbing or groaning noises from the various corners of the car. Does the suspension need to be greased? Could this be a sign of the shocks going bad.

3rd. On hard bumps/dips noticed the what I thought were the wheels rubbing. 18x7.5 +42 225/40/18 - CT drop. This does not sound like a combo that should rub. Is this a sign of shocks going bad or do I just need to roll the fenders - or maybe drive more slowly.

Thanks,
David-

I had this happen with my 18's same size & offset, but I had 235's. Your setup may be hitting the inner fenders. Might need to be rolled

Or it could be a bad shock.

It was real annoying - the roads in Tampa are not all that great and I was hearing all sorts of suspension noises and then what I thought was rubbing. I am thinking that I going to have the dealer look at the shocks first and then consider rolling the fenders. Has anyone posted pics or a how-to roll the fenders? Any advice on aftermarket shocks which are not outrageously expensive? Seems like the car may need a shock which is more suitable to the CT spring.

Koni Yellows are nice... but 600 bucks for shocks might not be what you are looking for...

I never had rubbing issue....

Oh wait a minute.... when you cut the wheel all the way to the left I had the front passenger side rub just a little bit on the plastic in the fender well....but that was it.

But you should not be hitting your fenders...
If your shock is going bad, you should hear a THUMPing sound while riding over the bumps...

Remember your not on grand touring tires anymore, your going to have a stiffer and more noticeable ride when hitting potholes and creases in the road.

600 might be a bit much - how about something a bit more cost-effective but still decent???

This is not rubbing on turns - this is bumping when the car is moving in a straight line over seriously uneven pavement or when the car is moving at higher speeds.

This is not the tires and not the ride - this to me sounds like a shock issue. I like the firm ride - I just do not like weird noises and rubbing sounds.

Oh, car has ~17k on it - if that makes any difference.

OK - car is going to the Acura dealer next week. There is no real rush, but I would like to hear some opinions as to what is going on here with my suspension.

I did the sways about 2-3 weeks after the drop. I just want to get rid of these weird noises the suspension is making. I am have been doing some surfing looking for some shocks/struts. Maybe the Tokico Blues Fuzzy recommened. I really do not care about the adjustability.

OK - been driving the car local and hitting evey friggin bump. It is pretty quiet and only the major stuffin the road makes any noise. Can I just have the suspension stuff greased? Can I do this myself? I just know I am gonna be buying shocks... you guy cost me to damn much $.
