Supercharger and Unichip

I just pulled this off the Unichip website... I called Jack and he said it wasn't a misprint. Does this car belong to anyone here? Must be since the CL Unichip was a limited run. The dyno looks a bit generous but some benefits are there. Jack said they kept it conservative so as not to run too lean...which the test car was running with the HBP. My Unichip is collecting dust anyway so maybe I'll drive down to Oregon.

2001 CL w/ SC, HBP, Catback, 4th gear dyno

I find it hard to believe that chip makes 50WHP.

showing peak HP at 340ish on auto S/C Cl-S with HBP.

we know 298 is S/C Auto S/C CL-S w/ HBP.

So I guess-stimated....

am i reading that wrong?

You're reading it correctly except you should only be looking at the difference between non-chip and chipped. Max gains are 12hp somewhere up in the 6k range.

I'm not taking the exact numbers to heart, just the net gains.

the pre-unichip dyno is overrated too. It's all relative.

I say it's worth it to go have it tuned. I know the Accord guys were getting it tuned with the S/C as well.

Well, with Unichip you'll have to keep ESM while with E-manage you dont . And based on E-manage, tuned boosted cars seem gain enough with good fuel delivery. I heard ESM is bad for tuning

True, but I bought the Unichip before I got the S/C. Now that I'm stuck with it I might as well use it if it gives me gains. I a few more peeps get in on the Intercooler then I'll get that and the emanage.

It is entirely possible. All they are doing is lowering the MAP signal some to lean the mixture out a bit. But that relys upon excessive fuel pressure to be rich in the first place. And I beleive most have seen how high the pressures go and are aware of the long term potential issues. That FPR is not known to be the best item in the SC kit.

I can see two potential issue. The first one would be if the kit were tuned in warmer weather. Once winter rolls around you will be running lean. This was seen on the NA Unichip application and it would be worse with the blower in place. Plus, you have no way to adjust the tune without going to someone to get it done.

Secondly and possibly worse, if the FPR starts going out and the MAP signal is lowered you go leaner and sooner. You would be leaner than what just would occur without moddifying the MAP signal and that alone was enough to potentially cause damage. IMO, it would be engine damaging lean quickly.
