Supercharger installed

Got my car back today w/ the SC ready to roll. My man SatinSlayer hooked me up w/ his SC and his mechanic friend Derek (Fine Edge Auto) in Vancouver. Took his 1 1/2 days to swap it into my car. Turns out he couldn't get the underdriving UR crank pullley off so he just left it on. That means the SC isn't putting out as much boost as it should. I'll have the guy that put the pulley on try to swap it for the 12v UR pulley. Hopefully that will make a little difference.

So, my impressions...

Definitely worth the money for the used SC. I don't know if it would be worth it if I had bought it brand new. I feel a noticable improvement in drivability. More torque EVERYWHERE! My computer is probably still adjusting and I'm sure I'll notice a change in the next couple of days. The VTEC kick is gone. The AEM CAI roar is gone. A distant SC whine is present. When I get on it I just don't get that satisfying sensation of speed when VTEC and the AEM kick in at the same time. I just get to speed without much...hmm, what's the word for it... . Kinda feels like my buddies 330ci. His car is very quick, but you just don't realize your rpm's are climbing because it is just so smooth.

Anyway, I need to go out and drive a bit more without my wife in the car to get a true feel for this new toy. I'll report back.

BTW, what is this ECM thingy that I need to solder???

congrats.

and don't worry if the s/c isn't packing a huge punch right now. the local s/c gurus have been doing a great job extracting more PSI out of the set up. you just need to swap out some pulleys.

ESM actually, and it is what keep the ECU from freaking out if it saw boost.

You need to get that UR pulley off there imediately as you are probably only seeing 1.5 PSI boost. Wait until that is remedied and you will really get a kick.

I hope that's all I'm getting right now because I was hoping for alot more PUNCH than I currently feel.

Is it me or is the SC whine barely noticable from inside the car?

You should be able to notice it more once it is turning faster.

Congrats Bro and i hope you bring it to Portland for the WCM, we need more SCs to keep up with MattG

Sounds like you're not getting everything out of it as set up, let us know your thoughts once you get the pulley thing settled.

You are right about losing the VTEC and Intake roar, but the SC whine is sweet and very noticeable from inside the car. Good luck !!

Do you guys know if an exhaust set-up is worth it w/ the SC? I know it is minimal when NA.

exhaust will definetly make a difference with forced induction .. more air is coming in, so more air has to get out....I'd do the comptech catback

I noticed today that my car takes a few seconds to start. It cranks for probably a full 2-3 seconds before firing up. Is that a problem with the fuel pump??

my friends truck did the same thing when he installed the whipple supercharger .. he definately has no fuel problems. we always just figured it took a little extra to turn the supercharger at startup too .. but not 100% sure.

Try turning the key to on, wait one second and then continue turning to start the engine. This lets the fuel pump prime the lines before trying to start the engine.

The new FPR bleeds off pressure quicker which is probably what is occuring.

Dude, enjoy the S/C!!! All this s/c talk kinda makes me regret selling it to you...hahaha.

Yes, I've notice that it takes a couple seconds to crank when it was on my car. A little bit odd but it didn't cause any problems for me.
