Supercharger Battery Size?

Does anyone have any info on the small battery that you need to use when you go to the Comptech SC (group #)? Or what it's typically out of as a cross reference? The Battery tray size would also help.

Thanks in advance.

Oh no, you must be on that slippery slope called modding. So the S/C bug has bitten you or you're just checking for a friend.

It's battery GROUP 51R and the Acura/Honda P/N is 31500-SR1-A02; cost me $70.

Yeah, mine is the Interstate 51R, it was about $75 from the dealer.

Thanks for the info on the battery everyone. And Yes - I do have an SC on order. You Sactown guys are hard on the bank account. I might have to resort to a life of :thief: to support my habit.

With the backlog, I'm trying not to get too wound up about it yet.

I'm in the same boat as you with a S/C on order. I was going to first relocate the battery to the trunk but in the end I went with an Optima 51r.

It's contagious.

BTW, I'd do a dyno at CompTech before the S/C goes in.

Man, you must be a mind reader. That's exactly the direction I was going so you saved me some time researching. Have you found a good source/pricing?

I'd think it woudl be easier to jsut relocate hte battery to the trunk. Just get some braided electirc lines running throug the cabin, under the carpet.

I haven't ordered it yet and so far the cheapest place online i've found for the Optima 51r is $129.95 + $7 shipping. Here

Still have to try the local shops and some other places online. Let me know if you find it for cheaper and i'll do the same.

I think you mean cheaper, cuz it would be much easier to just buy a 51r battery and install it like Comptech designed it.

So, exactly how good are these Optima batteries as compared to a standard GROUP 51R battery; durability and cranking power?

They're an excellent battery. Completely sealed so no corrosion issues associated with typical lead acid batteries. CCA is also higher for the size typically.

http://www.optimabatteries.com/products/index.asp

Inside this unusual battery is a six-pack of SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®. Traditional batteries have a stack of thick lead plates surrounded by acid. But OPTIMA® batteries feature two thin lead plates wound into a tight spiral cell, with an absorbent glass-mat in between to hold the electrolyte solution. This unique design allows for more power and increased energy, resulting in quick, reliable starts. OPTIMA batteries are the first and only batteries to feature SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY.

It'll last up to 2 times longer than other batteries.
It can sit unused 3 times longer than other batteries.
It is over 15 times more resistant to vibration than other batteries.
It's nonspillable and can mount in almost any position.
It provides constant performance quality keeping your battery running at the same level even as it's being discharged.
It provides more power in the inital 1, 3, 5, and 10 seconds of the vehicle starting process than comparably rated conventional lead acid batteries.

I'm convinced. Although, I'll wait for my current battery to die before replacing it with one of these gems.
