hey,
i want to add bass to my car and i am wondering what system people recommend. i was gonna get a basslink, but i think i want to shake the neighborhood more than that...i am not trying to spend a lot of money, can i get a good system for like 400-600? i live in the rockville, MD area, are there any stores you recommend. i have been told to avoid best buy and places like that, but i dont know anything about car audio...thanks

I'd go Eclipse I've had 2 Accords I've installed Eclipse systems in and I'm planning on my next Accord to put a bigger Eclipse system in it.
Now I'll admit they're are a little more each speaker but their quality is top rank.
My friend is a big Pioneer fan he got a new Premier CD player and I went to a Eclipse/Pioneer dealer and I was checking out their new products(I was bored and had nothing to do and i was in that area of town) He said I'll be honest with you man. I'll sell you either headunit(Eclipse or Pioneer) but I have probably 5 times more warrenty claims. He said plus Eclipse warrenty is better 3 years if they(the audio shop) install the headunit.
so my suggestion to you is try to get either 10s or 12s 86000 series.(these are the "cheap-os" subs of eclipse but they're still good). the reason I suggested you these is if your on a budget.
If your saving like me for my new Accord system you could get the a set of 12 DVD titaniums(those are like 800-900 bucks each ) but oh my GOSH they are loud. they'd wake up neighbors 3 blocks away

rockford fosgate high energy subs blow the doors off anything else on the market if you ask me. and they look damn good too. throw them on a rockford fosgate punch 1000.1 amp and you got a seriously nice combination.

Kicker and JL sound tight, don't buy a woofer bigger than 10" if you like clean sharp bass. (if you listen to a lot of hard rock music get 10's) If you like the boomy bass get 12's (rap, techno) 12's sound real muddy compared to a 10's and well 15's ummm... I'd say RAP only
I have 2 10" JL's in the back of my CLS, It sounds great accept for the spolier which rattles.
However I just as highly recommend Kicker. Both drivers sound great. And both will take some serious beating!! (trust me, heh)
Good luck and Happy bumping!
