Subaru WRX an' me....

Had a run in w/ a red Sub WRX wagon in Manch, CT about 10pm Sat night. Was bringing a friend home and pulled up to a double lane red light and he (a young guy, maybe 20's, I'm 33) comes up next to me. He looks over and rev's that engine, so my friend turns to me and asks if I can take him. I have a stock 2001 CL-S, so I said, "I don't think so, but I can try". Well, I shifted into man-u-matic just as the light turned green and stomped it. Got some wheel spin and suddenly the VSA light winked at me! "Oh shit!" I yelled furiously stabbing that thing off, then getting good hook up... I had my stereo off and could here him taking off. By the top of 2nd I could see his lights behind me and I heard his turbo kick and his engine race to the redline. I entered 3rd still ahead, hit 100mph and took my foot off the gas as we were rushing up on another stop light (right by Manchester Honda). He then pulled over to the right turn lane (I was in left) clearly beaten, and my friend laughing... Bad driver? Should I have lost? Dunno... but if felt good

He didn't even look over at me tho

good kill... I like WRX'es... If he could have just been a bad driver. I ran against a WRX that was stock (sedan) one night at the tracks. We ran against each other about 5 times. I won everytime. It takes a lot to launch that car. You have to launch it like you hate it. They bog down if you roll them off the line too easily.

However, if properly launched they run mid to low 14s. Shodln't have been that bad of a beating for him. It should have been head to head depending on what mods you have but under no circumstance should you have been able to see his headlights in your rearview.

Nice kill ... I ran a sedan that had exhaust (only obvious mod) from a 15-20mph roll and took him by 3 cars. I really wasnt all too impressed with it, 19-20yr old driver prob had a lot to do with it too

except when driven poorly.

WRXs are mostly quick from a stop, from a roll they don't have much. I raced a friends WRX from a 5mph roll and we were dead even until 3rd and 4th where I startd inching. The USDM 5 speed gearing combined with a small stock turbo make WRXs dogs on the top end, hence such a low trap for the times they get (trap around 92-96mph stock, but with 13.9-14.2 ETs).

Nice kill!!!

They trap low for their given ET just like most other AWD cars. Its the nature of the beast. I look at it this way, they are quicker than they should be due to their traction advantage.
