stupid question....

sorry guys, i know this is a dumb question but i was wondering about the injen intake (or any intake for that matter)...and how much it affects our fuel mileage....because xeyphr told me that fuel mileage improves but...but he's sellin a frickin intake so of course im suspicious as to his biased opinion....does it really improve or do the intakes guzzle gas like my friend told me they do?!?...thanx

I wouldn't buy from that guy. If you ask around I think he screwed some people on this board out of their money.

As for the intakes I have heard that they will improve gas mileage as well as hp under normal driving conditions. If you are always flooring it then I dont think you will see a improvement.

If you drive "easy", your gas mileage should improve (mainly due to the free flowing filter). Any time you can let the engine "pump" air easier, it has less parasitic losses (think of it like friction, but for air pumping).

If you put your foot in it, you aren't going to be saving any gas at all.

I think the greatest improvement is in easy 80MPH freeway driving (no stop and go stuff).

(my opinions)

ive had intakes in two cars now and would have to concur with the statement that it improves on easy driving, BUT when going WOT all the time....well thats a different story now....

CAI does aid fuel mileage. I noticed that mine has gone up about 1-2 miles a gallon. I consistently get 25-26 in combined driving and I used to get 23-25. "X" made a good product as I have one and they are still available from Park Avenue Acura if you want to call them. Definitely the best deal out there. As far as "X" goes, I have no idea what happened.
