The short ram will probably never get water in it, the air filter is still to high about ground to actually suck in water. With the regular length CAI, most ppl don't worry about it...but for the people who do, they came out with awater by-pass. Unless u are living in the flooded parts of TX, i don't think you need to worry

can someone hook me up with a site that sells a short ram for a type S? All I can fid are short rams for non-S type. Except for this. Has anyone bought this? $100 seems like it would be worth looking into.

well..

Dbox I would suggest getting the Cold Air Intake and then getting the bypass valve (which is a must I believe). I don't think the short air will really do much for you.

I'm looking into possibly getting the Comptech CAI (when it does become available ) and will happily sell you mine when I do get it, the only catch is you're going to haveto wait until I get get (if you can wait that long that is).

Otherwise get the CAI and a bypass...

dbox,
If you get a CAI+by-pass and not install it yourself, you better watch the installer. Make sure he/(she? :P) gives the by-pass enough clearance from the hood because I've seen several CLs with the by-pass valves installed too high that they rub on the hood and got damaged.
Just wanna give you the head-up and good luck.

I have the Weapon-R Short Ram intake for my CLS. I actually had a friend who hydrolocked his GSR with the AEM CAI, so I got a little scared.

I actually love the Weapon-R intake. It hums a little which may be distracting at first, but if you put a K&N filter at the end, the humming is hard to hear.

When it's hot outside, the Short Ram gives less power, but when it's cold, you can definitely feel it. And the sound is amazing. Quite a bit louder and more forceful sounding than the AEM CAI.

The AEM CAI is probably a great choice too, but I really like my intake. Had it over a year now with 0 problems

well first off weapon R sucks !!! and second CAI makes a big difference in the long run...and the by pass valve is a waste of $$$ there was a thread about this a while back it doesnt help just another way for companies to get your money!!! i would go with the INJEN CAI it is one of the best out there and the increase in hp is well worth the money!!!

dbox, I suggest you wait and see what the performance gains on the Comptech Icebox are in relation to AEM or Injen's CAIs.

Comptech's Icebox has been delayed numerous times...i would probably expect in it's by the end of summer. Someone stated that the CT would give u midband gain...but this still needs to be proven. The downside of this is that CT will be hella expensive. If i had to by a CAI now, i would go with the INJEN. AEM just has the name.

What the Comptech Icebox is--is a a CAI a bit longer than the shortram that the filter is covered buy a 5 sided box, the 6th side is where the air comes in. It's almost the same concept as INJEN's heatshield. The reason why the CT is in the box surrounding is that you have to consider NOISE, this box doubles as a heat side, it only sucks air from the tire well.
