Strut bars

Do strut bars REALLY make a big difference in corning & stability? I'm going with springs and sways, but does the strut bar really improve the handling or is it just a different feel when turning?

It seems like everyone says something different.

I think the strut bar is more cosmetic.
The sways will definately make a difference though.

I believe you would feel the difference in the steering. Make for a little more positive feel.

Slight improvement in steering response. Put the emphasis on slight.

They're cheap enough though. Make it your last suspension mod if you want to save costs.

I didn't notice a thing with my upper strut tower bar. Others have, I didn't.

just don't get silly and get the front lower and rear lower. They're not worth the added weight.

Thanks for your responses guys! I think I will pass on them seeing as they add weight and they only have slight performance gains.

Weight is negligible - only a couple pounds.

True, but doesn't seem worth $100+. I'll stick with sways and spring and maybe save up for Teins.

A minor improvment, but i figured, hey for the $90 or so i payed, its only like a couple pounds and looks good, so what the hell. But yes, it does do something, but very little.

Does the Eibach come as a set for top and bottom or front and rear?

eibach cannot be used with the stock bar, and does not have the bars that go back to the firewall as the stock bar does. The stock bar + Neuspeed will most likely be stiffer.

If you've got the money, and need to spend it, get the Comptech one. It just as good as the stock + Neuspeed, and I think it weighs less. Only thing you are losing is some $.

yeah, they fit very well together.

If you buy it and don't like it, you can always resell it here, they usually sell quick. So you're not going to be out much $.

I'm actually removing my Neuspeed and have a Cusco coming in.

The Neuspeed causes some unwanted noises by rubbing against the stock ST bar. I've not seen others complain about this, so it may be unique to my car. I'm really disappointed with Neuspeed's customer service too, so I'm giving them the boot.

I'll have a full write-up (and reasons) when I do the changeover.

The Comptech bar is nice, but pricey. Also, as elegant as it looks, you still need zip ties to grab the couple lines that are attached ot the stock STB firewall struts. For the money they change, they could have attached a bracket for those lines.

Yes. Do a search. There are pics here somewhere.

I actually forgot the price I paid, but I think it was pretty close to the 100 or so spent for Neuspeed.

If your some one who is very in tune with cars and can notice and describe the dif between cars handling char. you will notice a big dif. in handleing, the car first feels stiffer, tighter , the steering is sharper and the car has a more planted feel when taking corners. its worth the $ if you are like me but if not then dont spend the $. imho

i.e. (i didn't tell either of them about it) my gf did not notice but , my little sis did ( I trained her to notice these things since she was little girl)

Thanks for your input 360. I got a good deal on the Cusco ones, so I ordered them. I bought CT exhausts and CT sways already, so I'll have them installed at the same time. Can't wait!

If you think $100 is too much for a strut bar then you definitely don't want the Comptechs.

$100 for something that does almost nothing (i.e. Neuspeed STB). I ordered the Cusco one.
