Stripped threads for motor mount bolt, and alt. pulley install question.
this is for a first gen CL, but kind of broad questions, so it doens't really matter, and since more of the technical people are here in the second gen forum I figured I'd ask here.
I was installing my UR crank pulley the other day and I unbolted teh two bolts holding the motor mount to the engine so I could remove/replace the belt between the crank pulley and the power steering pully. Then after I got everything reinstalled I went to put the two bolts back, but one of them only screws in about halfway then stops, so I pulled it out and looked in teh hole and there are a bunch of metal shavings and it looks like the threads are messed up.
What can I do to "re-thread" the bolt, the threads or both?
also, in the UR installation instructions it says to completely remove the alternater to replace the pulley on there. Think it would be ok to use a similar method to the breaker bar + starter method to loosen the bolt, like have someone holding the breaker bar very firmly, then turn the ignition?
