Jonesi had the OBX welds touched up before he sold them to me. So yes there is, but I have no idea how.

or he should use the 900$ he saved and take it to an exhaust shop and have the welds touched up for 20$

let's see, comptechs website says 1249$ and OBX can be found for 299$. Sounds around 900$ to me

I can be fair and say ccc sells them for 1097. So 800$

What is actually done? Is it just ran over again or can they actually ad a layer of metal across it?

It shouldn’t be a problem.
You just need to find a piece of material of the SAME QUALITY to splice in there.

May I suggest……………

lsu, check out this link http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...hreadid=132522

you probably don't really ahve to worry, however it'd be smart to get the welds cleaned up before anyways since it'd be very cheap to do.

hence why I made that thread, i'm not even an OBX owner. I just got tired of all the bashing. If people only knew how common exhaust/header cracks were. Comptechs product is amazing, i'm not taking that away from them. But for the price it doesn't seem logical. Go to any exhaust shop and ask them how often they have to weld up cracked headers and exhaust products it's pretty often.

It's also amazing how many products out there need full on machineing and custom fabrication to get them to fit. OBX's problems are very minimal.

Yea the price is just unjustified. I guess if you have it to waste its safegaurd cause there products are well made. And i like wiorkig on my car any way. so if they do crack ill enjoy taking them out and back in.

, and

When I first bought my 99 TL I thought... Let me get headers and an intake. When I found out headers for the TL cost $1,000 + I thought.... :shakehd: :thumbsdn:

but the quality is sooo much better, I have peice of mind

Gimme a fucking break I could buy headers for any other car out there for less than $500. I am damn happy that OBX, STONE, and others brought the damn price down even if they stole compechs design.

To answer your original question yes you can have a small bead welded over the existing beads but sometimes this causes problems. The original weld could get superheated and loose its strength. Find a good welder and pay $30-50 for them to go through and weld over any potential weak spots...

Those C/T Header guys sure are sensitive about Headers. Guess U get real attached to C/T Headers when they are a present from Mom and Dad. Bet if C/T's melted in the engine bay they would be to ashamed to even post it. $999 -$1299 plus install $, for some mini headers. I've seen V8 headers that's twice the size and better built for $395.

lsuracing another Idea is to take them to a good Machine shop. Most muffler shop's will weld anything and charge you. Machine shop or Race shop will look them over and you may not even need to weld. Congrats on the new mod. You're going to love them after they are in. OBX will out flow the stock cast iron exhaust manifold's. When you take them off look at the 1/2 thick wall in the middle of the stock Y pipe. Good luck !

Yeah its kinda like if they were worried about things failing (not to knock our cars) but why would they pay 30k+ knowing the tranny might go? Kinda the same situation i guess. But i m happy with my car. So should i go machine shop or welds?
