Latest update as of 05/27/03:

I emailed this morning for a status update on the headers. The status is still like last time: Headers to be shipped from UK first week of June.

360, I think I kept all the info you sent. To be double sure, I will email you for confirmation and tracking info once available.

All others: You can still order as we did not reach the GB limit yet.

So these headers have been HAND-welded, is this correct?

Would that make the quality of the welds much better than any machine weld? Like close to comptech?

We hope so, the welds would be as good as the ones in the prototype. I have to see the finial mass production runs to comment.

I wonder what the dyno results will be like on these things -- probably in the same range as OBX, right?

Wow, cool, something like 25whp gain for $500. I really need to decide how long I'm going to keep this car

I was never much of a mod person, but after a year and a half on the board I'm itching to get springs, intake, headers, and tints Now if I had done it RIGHT when I bought the car, I'd make sense, but I've already had it for 2 years and I might only keep it for 9 months more or something.

Hard for me to decide if blowing $1k on it is worth it

Latest update as of 06/05/03:

The headers have been shipped from UK to the US. Now, how long to be be here and cleared from customs, etc. is still a guess. I think it is not less than 18 days.

What is the process now? Are all the headers shipped to your place? Then you go out and ship to us UPS? or are the headers shipped direct from Ireland? How long do you predict we will have to wait till we have the stainless steel "cobras" at our doorsteps?

please pardon my ignorance/lateness.
i've been reading a few threads about these stone headers and i STILL have only 2 questions.

1) is it too late to get me these headers considering my lateness?
2) i'm confused. what is the horsepower increase versus stocks 260hp? this sae, std, whp, 4whp, whateverthefuck got me confused. how much TOTAL horsepower would these things give me?

Only Nashua can answer question #1

But... 2) 260 hp is at the crank. Your transmission eats up some of this power and so whats delivered to the wheels on the automatic tranny is somewhere around 200hp (to the wheels). SAE is a correction algorithm that accounts for weather and humidity on a dyno. whp = Wheel Horsepower, what most dynos measure. If you dyno'ed your car with no mods you'd put down around 200whp.

Max gains on the headers is expected to be around 30whp ... So your max horsepower to the wheels would go from 200whp to 230whp. This is an estimate of course, every car is different, and the production headers could be a little bit different than what Nashua dyno tested.

The thing you have to remember is that you don't make your max whp at every single RPM. When you step on the gas you're not instantly going to 200whp ... At lower RPMs, you only make about 100whp. You don't hit your max whp until around 6000rpms. But between 6000-6800 rpms is where the headers really shine. You have gains of about 20whp on average through that rpm range. 20whp for $400 is pretty damn good!

So to answer your question on how much TOTAL horsepower this thing gives you, it depends on how you want to measure it ... If you want to sound cool, then you could say that it nets you 30whp, giving you 230whp. If you estimate how much horsepower you get from the headers, it should be close to 300 horsepower at the crank. If you want to brag I guess thats the number you can go with. The truth is that those numbers are all max numbers. With the headers you can realistically expect about an average of a 20whp gain over the higher rpms (6000-6800).

Thank you LiQiCE for the explanation.

YuppieCL:
We never reached the limit of the GroupBuy Numbers. To put it in concrete numbers, for the first GB I had a limit of 20 for GB on 2 sites. We reached 11 on Both GB. So we can order as many as 9 more with no worries.

AgentDSS:
The process is as follows:
Headers have been shipped from UK to the east coast, once here, I will be notified and I will FedEx them to you. I will email Tracking info once available.

The delay time is not less than 18 days (3 Weeks), then we need 1 week for Fed Ex. So, that is 4 weeks. I geuss you would expect them at your door last week of June or 1st week of July.

oh yeah, are there any benefits with these headers over the CT besides price? do they lack in performance compared to CT?

CT is not an option for me... too much $$

The Stone headers are being produced for the first time, and the first ones are being sold to us and other groupbuys. So they are not available on the market right now (but maybe at a later date).

The two people who have Stone headers already installed on their cars (Nashua is one of them), have not reported any major problems with the headers. Compared to OBX they supposedly produce little to no resonance sound in the two test fits. (And may produce none with the final version since the test fitments should have helped to prevent problems).

Besides price I dont see any advantage to these headers versus the CompTech headers. If price were no issue, I would say go with the Comptech headers without a doubt. But these are less than half the price!

For 6spds as far as I know, Comptech is still the only way to go.

Cant wait to get my headers!!!

Nashua_Night_Hawk, I have an idea! (that's scary!)

I think we should all get together at your place and have an install party! :P (I told you it was scary!)

Do you have any way to track the inbound freight? It's got to be this week! I know you're as anxious as we are. I hope it's this week.

ModAddict,

Yeah... great idea...get me an air-powered tool set and I will do the install for FREE...

Now, Tomorrow, I will email for another Status update. I hope that the fact that next week is July 4th week does not affect the shippment.

Guys,...It is now very close!
