stone headers for 6-speed?
thought i'd start a new post cause the other was way too long....i saw that 10 people would be needed to get a GB going and i'm trying to gauge interest and figure out who to get in contact with to see if this can be done

my understanding was that they would be willing to make headers for the 6-speed if there was enough interest.....its a pretty simple difference only on the rear set that is necessary to fit the 6-speed

i talked to nashua_nighthawk, or organized the GB for the auto headers. He said their are no current plans to do the 6 speed headers, although they were thinking of doing them later this year. However, they had a lot of time delays and shipping issues with this company. The GB started in april and many have still noy received their headers yet. So, i'm thinking maybe we talk to comptech or Dean, i dunno if they have ever done any discount on a mass order, but maybe they'll knock off something if we get a bunch of people to order at once.

Guys, give me few days, I will try to find out if we can do the 6-speed version for the GB (minimum 10).
One way we my try to do it, take an Auto rear headers to a Pro Exhaust Shop and moddded to fit the 6-speed. If it is doable, then we may mod 10 for you that would add to the cost of the headers, unless of course you want to do the mod yourself.
If there is a possibility to do a new rear header for the 6-speed, we will consider it.

nashua-
you have like 6 leftover sets right? i'm guessin thats the one's you were talking about getting modified, but if you hadn't thought of it, we have what looks like 5 people who would be down for that.

yeah, that's what I thoguht would be a good idea is getting an auto header modded to fit. I'm still down so count me in as 100%... Hopefully we can mod them to fit our 6 speeds. What kind of price would we be looking at?

HEADERS ARE THE SHIT on the manual Tranny !!!
The Comptech’s are worth a GRAND and if these are made OK, they’re certainly worth a few hundred.
Here is the difference between the two for comparison.
I really don’t know how hard it would be to modify an AUTO set with that bend.
I would imagine you would have to cut off the one pipe, bend, and then re-weld.

damn, can someone with some weld skillz please tell us how much we should look forward to paying for such a modification?
just out of curiosity, are there plans for OBX or anyone else to make some headers for us anytime in the future?

when I get back I'll try to find an exhaust/muffler shop and see if they can make it fit with the pictures provided. if he says 80%+ that he/she can do it then I'll buy a set and try to fit them.

ok guys... I'm thinking this... I just talked to nashua and the going price for these things is $400. I'd really like to get a set and have an exhaust shop make that itty bitty bend to see if it's possible.
I'd like to see however if there's any of you on the board willing to split this risk with me on them not fitting. If a bunch of us pitch in together it'd be best. If a big bunch of us would get together and throw down some cash then either I or someone else on teh board who wants to test fit it instead of me perhaps could get it done without worrying about losing $4xx.xx of their own money. As a college student it'd be a huge hit for me to take.
I've been on the board a while, but if you 6 speeders have someone else you trust more to try and get this done i'd be happy to pitch in $20 or so, so that he/she could try to have it done. It'd be sort of an incentive for someone to take the first step on this.
Let me know what you all think about this idea.

Im interested if they can make it work. The welds must be perfect though. So if it works out, let me know. I will buy a set.

If anyone is seriously looking into this, I have the original versions of that photo and others in High-Resolution if you want them for a closer look.
They’re like 2,200 x 1,600 and about 700-800K or something like that.
They might help if you’re looking for estimates from a fabrication shop.

yeah... a friend of mine had his turbo piping and downpipe as well as exhaust piping made at a shop in Austin. I'm going to get in touch with him when I return and see what can be done. I'll try to look for professional welders and whatnot. This can't be started until August but I'll let you guys know as soon as I do.
