Stock wiper blades dead after 3 months, suggestions for new ones please

The stock POS wiper blades have worn out their short lifespan with me. After 3 months since I purchased the car they can't effectively wipe the water off of my windshield without streaks all over the place. On my commute in to work this morning, I faced the 40 miles of rain with nothing but streaks from the wiper blades.

It's funny because I tried to keep them clean and what not, and I almost always wash my windshield at the gas station once a week. I asked my buddy about the blades on his WRX since he got his car a couple weeks before mine, and he said he ended up replacing his as well. I guess it must be a popular cost cutting measure to put crappy wiper blades from the factory?

Anyway, I'll probably be replacing them soon since their condition is unacceptable. I used to use the Bosch Microedge type from autozone on my old jeep and they worked out pretty well. Does the consensus here have a particular affinity for a type of wiper blade, or do you think I should just go with the Bosch @ autozone?

Cool! I was checking out their site (PIAA) and I see the blades come in carbon fiber or black finish. How does the carbon fiber look on silver, anyone?

Actually I noticed the stock wiper blades sucking too.
I bought my car last fall, but here in LA we only got 4 days of rain this whole past year, so it was no big deal.

I still try to replace them every fall though because 100+ degree summers play hell with the rubber blades.

PIAA it is.

Are there any good places to get the PIAA's on the net? The only reputable site I've found so far that have 'em are tirerack.com, but they're $21 and $27 for the passenger and driver's side respectively. Is this the going rate?

Bosch wiper blades are really good too- my bro had them on his old car and they survived the Arizona sun really well.

If you mention the streaking, the dealer will replace under warranty since there is a service bulletin. MIne have been replaced twice under warranty.

The TSB was for the washer hoses being bad. Wipers would be replaced at that time. Nice job to get them to replace blades after doing tsb (unless they screwed up the hose replacement).

I use SilBlades. They are doing well. They bake in the Atlanta heat for 3 weeks without rain, and then step right up when we get a downpour.

I haven't heard of a TSB for the washer hose, but this interested me cause just last week my passanger side washer stopped working. I took it in and they fixed it, but they didn't do anything but move it cause they said it was just pinched. Where was that list of TSBs? I think I lost the link.

There is a TSB for smeared windows. I am not sure if it is the arms or blades.

I have replaced mine already twice with different, good quality 3rd party ones. After a bit they all suck.

Now that I have seen the TSB, I will ask about it when I bring in the car to get the Cruise Control fixed.

Speaking of wipers, please inform this idiot (me) how to pull the passenger-side wiper away from the window (like the driver side) for cleaning and replacement. The hood is in the way whether it's open or closed. Is there a special unlock button that allow the arm to release?

LOL... I had to look it up in the instruction book to get my blades off. That such a pain in the ass that Acura didn't design the passenger wiper arm better so that the little bend actually clears the lip on the top of the hood.

Anyway, I couldn't take it anymore so I just bought the Bosch before I headed home from work. Huuuuggge improvement, I could actually see out my front windshield when the wipers were doing their thing. $19 total @ Autozone. That 24" blade (drivers side) was an expensive little bastard... $12 bucks for that one, and $7 for the 19" passenger blade.

My setup Edgar and it looks OK, not great, just OK and different which I kinda like. The wipers themselves are working fine w/ no streaking/creaking.
