questions about addatives???

well i was just wondering about the engine additives like the fuel injection cleaners and fuel cleaners??? do they really work or are they just another way for companies to make money they claim to restore lost hp and increase acceleration, increse gas milage plus make the car ride smoother which i guess makes sense considering the more fuel sprayed with cleaner injectors the better the overall conditon just wanted to know what everyones opinions were!!

I have used Castrol Syntec and a Chevron product - I add either one every 5k miles - they seem to keep the idle smooth. Also, I recently added a can of NOS octane booster; maybe it was my imagination, but acceleration from 60 mph seemed to improve.

I have used the Valvoline gas additive every oil change. Can't say I notice anything different performancewise, but for $4.00 it makes me feel better, like I'm doing something good...

Used to use BG products like crazy, tranny additives, radiator additives, etc, etc on cars I have owned before. But its kind of a hassle when your Ack dealer doesn't sell the products. I really like the BG stuff.

I used STP FI cleaners. U have to trust STP if it helps... I would love to see an independent study. I know oil-additives are just rip-off.

Don't waste your money on this stuff. Use good brand gas like Shell, Exxon, Mobile. etc. They all have good detergent additives in the gas. You should NEVER need to have your injectors cleaned if you use good gas. Unless you run the tank down to the bottom and suck up some of the junk that accumulates there over time. Most gas additives also do zero for HP. Octane boosters are a different matter.
