Stock Stereo
I have the stock Bose audio system. Do I have to worry about damaging the speakers if I have the volume cranked up all the time?
My last car had stock speakers but a new head unit and the speakers blew. I don't want the same to happen.
I'd rather be safe and ask, than sorry.
THanks for the help...

I doubt that you'll blow anything, except your good taste in sound quality. Although the stock Bose system is decent in quiet and moderate sound levels, it definitely is not a system designed for 'cranking it up'.
You'll just embarass yourself when someone else drives by you and hears all that mush coming out of your car.

For a 3 week period of time while my car was being modded, I had an Alpine IVA C800 monitor unit hooked up to my stock speakers. I used to blast it and they held together just fine. Have no worries.

your system should be okay...with the newer bose systems, they often have "shut-off" or "turn-down" sensors that limit the volume of certain freq's....GM used to do this on some of their late-0's models...but their stuff sounded terrible anyway...

The reason why 'every 1 doesnt' like the stock system is because the interpretation of sound quality is a very personal thing. Furthermore, some people also have different standards that they find acceptable. My wife, for instance, fails to understand why people pursue audio systems more high tech then a 1980 era bedside clock radio. Although I have no intention of ripping out the stock Acura/Bose system, I understand that it is not the best system that one can have in a car.
I don't think I was pushing the envelope by suggesting that our stock audio system was less then acceptable at 'cranking it.'

okay, so i guess the consensus is by turning the volume up on my stock stereo, I'm not likely to blow or damage the speakers. Additionally, the stock Bose audio system is inferior to others, which is well-known and understood.
So, my original question has been answered -- no need to worry about damaging my speakers.
Thanks for all the replies!

hahahahaha....I guess if you had more people tell you to jump off a cliff, you would!
Keep turning up that volume and when you blow your drivers because of distortion, come back on here and tell the ones who said it would be ok, that they owe you some new drivers.
