Stock shock question
Do our stock shocks have a dust boot covering the piston? I got Tockio shocks, & the directions say to use the factory boot on the new shock, I took my wheels off, & noticed I do not have any boots at all on any shock. Is this the way it's supposed to be? I don't remember if I saw a boot on the stock shocks.

Jens, you sure? I got the stock shocks back from the installer, & they didn't have the boots on them, & their not on the car, so did the shop not put them on? Can anything bad happen if there not on?
Yes I am sure .I work for Park Ave Acura .The boots where likely not reinstalled although why is something your installer will have to answer .The boots serve the function of preventing debris from scoring the shafts on each strut.Failure to use them can increase the likelyhood of strut failure especially in gas charged struts. The shiny shaft on each strut is what the seals ride on so any scoring or pitting can cause damage to the seals .Jens

I had the car lowered with Comptechs. The installer said they didn't put the boots back cause they had to trim the bump stop, & that is part of the boot. Does that make sense to you?
Thanks for the help

Jens lowered my car and (I just looked) my covers are still on the struts.
Thanks Jens!
BTW - the drop evened out just like you said it would. It looks and rides absolutely great.

Your welcome slimey I am glad to hear the drop worked out well for you .With certain aftermarket struts I.E. Koni the strut boots must be drilled out slightly to accomodate the thicker shafts but they should still be installed .Jens
