Well yes i finally put the pulley on and at first i didnt feel a difference but that was because i was stuck in traffic but tonight I floored it and noticed picking up from 100 to 130 its much quicker compared to before. Are there any other things i should notice i havent really had the time to test run it to today

I used the starter trick too. I've done a few times on other cars, works great. When I did it, I left the tires on and turned the wheel all the way to one side, used an extension so the breaker bar was on the outside of the fender.
Here's a vid I found on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Zu5g95gpqo

One thing to add, when tightening everything up, dont overtighten the PS pump. That will wear out the bearings. The belt needs 1/4" deflection IIRC.

One more note on the starter removal method... my buddy advised me if I was still paranoid to remove a coil pack so I was sure it wouldn't start.

Finally got my Option pulley. For some reason it's bigger than I thought it would be. Anyone else get the impression it was supposed to be... pretty small?

Shit, really? I don't suppose you know the diameter of the stock size...? Your pictures just make the underdrive pulley look smaller than the one I got.

So I called up this place that does mod kind of work, and the guy seemed a bit confused when I tried to explain my pulley. He said he's done this sort of mod quite often, but he seemed to think I was talking about a lightweight stock pulley instead of an underdrive one. I told him I will get the belts, but he kept saying "you should be able to use the stock belts!"
So when I get there, I'm sure he'll know what I want him to do. But just in case, what should I tell him about belt tension or anything of that sort when I go in? I mean, assuming he's still unsure about what needs to be done. Does the smaller bit on the underdrive pulley go to the alternator?
And don't worry, if it looks like he has no clue what to do, I'll get the hell out of there I think he just misunderstood me over the phone.

Well yeah I know I need the smaller belts, but he just didn't seem to understand what it was I was trying to have put on my car. Like I said, I'm sure he'll get it when I show up. I'm just trying to prepare just in case he needs further explanation.
Yeah I have an automatic, and I heard you need an impact gun to get that bolt back in. Otherwise I would have installed this myself.

Yeah I know, I was just kidding. I think he only said "you should be able to reuse the stock belts" since he thought I was talking about installing a stock size lightweight pulley.
So just so I know, which part of the pulley goes.... where? It sounds like you said the larger diameter goes to the accessories and the smaller goes to the power steering? Is that how it's underdriving them?

Oh, so unless he's a complete idiot he should get it on, no problem?

Alright, well I guess I'll have to see how it goes. I'm set up to go next week. If he can't do it I'll just try to do it myself.
Sorry about all the dumbass questions. Chatting with the guy on the phone made me pretty nervous. He said he's put on new pulleys (of all types) dozens of times, but eh... Maybe just bad communication?

Well like I said, I think it was just a miscommunication. I mean, it didn't sound like he was trying to blow smoke up my ass, but it just sounded like he was talking about something a little different.
And of course, if he does get a :| look, I'll gtfo!

Well damn, my local auto parts store didn't have the Gatorbacks... for some reason... They just sold me the Gates'. Oh well. You'd kinda figure they'd have these types of belts in stock....

Sorry to bring up a month-old post, but since we're on the topic of underdrive pulleys, does anyone know if: (stock crank pulley+stock s/c alternator pulley) is approximately equal to (underdrive crank pulley+high boost alternator pulley). This is, of course, in terms of boost psi. It almost seems like the underdrive crank with the HBP would (almost) cancel each other out?

but the issue i see more of you running into, is trying to make sure that the belt doesn't slip when going into boost, cause of the smaller contact area between the belts and the pullies

Whats up with RDX owners?

Theres a thread floating somewhere around here showing the actual PSI of each pulley. Cant remember where it is though.

i was thinking alot about this mod about pros more HP more TQ engine will rev faster - MORE FUN
but what are the CONS ??? why the manufacture made this engine with that heavy crank pulley(8lbs+/-) can it affect anything ? im not talking about that is not gonna charge battery properly if we use underdrive pulley... anyone ? techs ?
i already done this what i can see its easier to overrev the engine... am i right and bend the valves
