Stock muffler broke off exhaust on '03 CL-S

So I was hearing a funny noise. Not sure how, but the left muffler is totally disconnected at the weld point and is hanging by something. How safe can I run this disconnected and hanging before I get it fixed?

Here are photos.

I have Tein SS coilovers and let's just say I've had a fair share of bottoming out in the 8 years I've driven this beast.

it should be ok to drive to a muffler shop try hanging it up with a metal hanger. or better yet take it off its held on by a rubber hanger, slip the hanger from the muffler and it should come right off since its not bolted on anymore.

I would assume it's already being held up by a hanger since it's not fallen to the ground. When I grab the muffler, it can swing around but it's definitely still hooked to something to keep it from falling

Its a rubber hanger 1 hanger is from your car chasis and the other is on the muffler slip it off the muffler or which ever is easier. if you have wd40 that would work the best.

a flat head screw driver work well too if no WD40 is around.

use the flat head to expand the rubber as u pull the hanger out

Thanks for the advice. I have a crazy work schedule right now and might not be able to do anything for about a day or two. Is it cool for it to hang with the existing hanger?

it should be ok the only thing i would be worried about is someone stealing it from you or when everything is fixed that side might hang lower. it takes no more then 5 mins to take it off. Just pry it off and throw it in your trunk.

I doubt someone was trying to steal it off me. I think over the years I must have weakened the weld by bottoming out my ride and scraping the exhaust system on bumps, falling off curbs like an idiot, and this one time I got air on a jump when a road had a ridiculous incline followed by a rapid decline. Today I drove on some crappy roads and that was probably the final straw.

She definitely gets slapped around a bit, but I seriously love this car and will ride it till both mufflers fall off. I got the welding done for $40 today and then bought some Yokohama S-Drives to replace my balding rubber. The welding guy thought the weld might not be the best repair and suggested cutting off some of the exhaust piping and putting in a new piece to bridge between the exhaust and the muffler, but that sounded time consuming and expensive.
