Stock 2001 Type S

At the track yesterday I ran my new toy. The best run was 15.558. Around what I expected to run. Now it is time for parts!! One thing I noticed if I was running a good race they would jump on me for the first 1/8 of a mile and then I would walk them down on the top end. So where should I go from here? Intake, exhaust, headers, nx?????

Ah man u forgot a couple of crutial things to mention:

1) what was the ambient temp at the track

2) how much did u gut ur car

3) what kind/type of fuel were u using (brand/octane)

4) what is the altitude that u ran at

I mean those are just a few key components to include when stating track times.

Last night I took my CLS to the track and made some impressive runs. I was taking on a friend of mine that I met on the street when he decided to take me on in his 5 cylinder Turbo Volvo. We were bot running consecutive times. I was hitting 15.108-15.072 alot. He was hiting the 15.251-15.142 all the time he was complaing that the turbo wasn't making enough boost because of the heat. And all I kept hitting was the low 15s know that I could break the 15s. So on my 4th pass I did. I raced against him again and off the line my tyres chirped but I took off. He beat me to the finish line but I got a faster time than he did.....14.972. And I'm looking at my time slip right now... I can't believe it either.

This comming Tues. I've got my headers comming in and I expect to hit lower than 14.6 on the 1/4.

So here are the specs:

37K on the car
200 miles on the oil (Mobil 1 Full/Syn 5W-30)

Never got to weigh the car (stupid stupid stupid ) but from my crappy calculations I would say 3450lbs.

The only hop-up that I have is an AEM CAI (completly cold air)
Replaced my crankcase return lines with crank case filters and pluged up the inlet nipples on my CAI with rubber stoppers.
Oh and 'NO' by-pass valve. I just don't go into puddles .

The ambient temp at the track was 82oF and the time was 8:34 PM.

So about ur parts. 1st get a CAI. Then we talk.

Hey Trelos, I'm the kid with the 5 cylinder Volvo .

Love these acura's, I was suprised with what his CL-S with just intake could do. I was complaining about my boost pressure because I have a MBC. Stock I'm pushing 9.5 PSI of boost, the day before the track and even on the way up on the highway, I was holding 12-13, but once I got to the track, I could only push 11 PSI, hopefully in the winter I could push 14, then we'll see what's goin on . BTW, Fabian you forgot to mention the 15.089 that I ran . Anyone else here wanna go to Moroso with us??????

Here's the specs on my car:

1996 Volvo 850 Turbo.

2.3 Liter 5 Cylinder 16T Mitsubishi Turbo (all stock)
Dawes Device MBC set to 11 PSI
117,000 miles and still running low 15's
3650 LBS

The conditions:
I drove for a hour to get to the track.
The temp was about 97 degrees.
I did not gut my car, infact I had my golf clubs in the trunk as well as my breifcase.
Texaco 93 octane (1/2 a tank)
About sealevel and it felt like the humitity was 100%.

CAI on the way!

WOW 97oF and u had crap in the car, w/o a CAI that seems pretty good.

Now gut the car, keep 1 gal. in the tank and then take it to the track. U got to be able to hit 15.3, possibly 15.2.

But get that CAI.

Got the intake. Damn it sounds mean when I get on it!! When you say gut the car what should I take out?????

The shop I went to get the intake said that you can get 18hp at the wheels by adding a new pullies. They just came out not to long ago. They said that a supercharger will be available for about 4 grand next year.

By guttin the car, they mean take out the spare, passenger seat, all the goodies in the trunk, anything easy to put back into the car that weighs alot

Woa u got 14.8 w/ "NO" mods at all??? Ok let me get this straight u have no mods, u way above sea level right? Ok sure I can see that it was 65oF out but still 14.8. That is pretty good.

Myself and another member ran high 14s (14.7s and 14.8s) on a DAMP/WET track...

Mid 15s sound like a malfunctioning actuator... That's really slow...

Even for a hot day...
