Question Steering wheel whoes =(

I have had this issue for a while and it's really new to me.

-My steering wheel is cocked to the right just a tad and sometimes self adjusts during driving. Basically the wheel will move back to its OEM spot, or it will move just a tad to the left and sit there and will not adjust.

This has had me concerned a little bit.

I've noticed that if I have the steering wheel sitting exactly in the middle, the wheel will cock to the left or right while driving after a cold start (the car has sat over night). It's very strange, yet I've had a few wheel alignments done in the past 7 months and nobody knows whats wrong.

Maybe someone could possibly tell me. Cuz I have no clue. Just to let you know the steering column does not move any more than where it sits after it adjusts. So if it's already cocked to the right, it won't move any more, same as is if it's cocked to the left.

I just don't want to drive down the road and the whole column gives out because I didn't address this issue.

I don't drive erratic at all. I very rarely race, I usually travel between 60-80 on highways, and city streets I do the speed limit. I do a LOT of highway driving. The steering column has been doing this for about 7 months but I never really thought of what could be wrong until now.

It started doing this right after I got my car dropped of the end of last summer, but before I got in my accident in November....hmmmmmmmm

Any takers?

It's part of the wheel alignment process where they fix the steering wheel if it's not straight. Last time they messed it up and they took 2 minutes to fix it.

Could be simple tire pressure adjustments, combined with road crown & tire tread pattern. Some tires because of the tire pattern will follow road crown more then others.

Definately agree with fuzzy. Check that before doing any alignment. However, this all points towards an alignment.

In dropping it you changed the suspension geometry, my guess is it took the castor out of the front end.

Alignment may or may not help.
