Stealth escort8500 install in the 7

Well as you all know I got the 7 and as most of you I can't drive w/out radar.

I originally hard wired the escort to the top of the windshield behind the tint strip but the window was too damn clear you could see it right through. ALSO the windows have infared reflect coating so you can only put the radar on the bottom where they cut out a square for radar detectors.

I first was skeptical so I went to my local grocery store which sets off K band and that shit NEVER WENT OFF!! when it was behind the normal infared coated part.

So I moved it to the bottom where the cut out is but it in the plan view for cops. (im in va) As I started pondering I decided to cover that shit w/ a hat!! I know I"ll loose laser detection but I could care less.

Heres some install pics:

Also I can't put stickers directly on the windshield, or it not recommneded so I went to kinko's bought a clear over head projector sheet and decided to put my 'suppor the state troopers' stickers on that . and then just slide that on the car windsheild.

Good idea with the hat.
I did that for YEARS on my older cars before I got creative with cutting wires.

I also do that when driving rental cars or when taking long road trips in friend’s vehicles that don’t have detectors.

PS…. I really doubt those stickers work. I heard most of those places that collect “donations” never give it to the cops anyway.

Um, doesn't the hat cause more problems than having it mounted up high?

I find this very funny. Hiding a RD under a hat
When I drive through VA, I keep my V1 behind the tint strip between the winshield, & the rear view mirror.

Well it’s certainly going to kill the LASER reception, but should have ZERO effect on radio waves unless the hat is made of LEAD.

fuzzy i did that too on the cl-s and on the 7 for a couple days but I noticed I wasn't getting the same false alerts, and signal was greaty reduced.

also the windshield on the 7 has infared reflect coating all over it so radar no good. it also kinda absorbs or blocks the police radar

the only spot to mount a radar is on the bottom part in the middle where it has a square cut out, and since I couldn't stick it directly to the window I had to use a hat.

You know, it's so fucked up when you don't have a right to know when the government is monitoring you without a warrant with a device as prone to errors as police radar. Total bullshit.

hat looks suspicious...

look into those detectors that are mounted in under your hood and in your trunk. my buddy had one on his 3 series and had the led light and chirp speaker mounted in the overhead console
