Question Starter Replacement

Who has changed their starter here? Mine still starts, a bit slower, and has a clicking/metal sound during the cranking. One of my buddies said its probably the armature wearing out and not retracting quick enough so its binding a little with the fly wheel. I have one ordered starter and it looks straight forward, but the manual notes to reset the idle (forget the exact terminology), but it looks like disconnecting a bunch of grounds and pulling fuses. Did anyone do this procedure when changing your starter? I have disconnected my battery a few times and never did this before...

how many miles you got on the car ? i never heard about starter failure in our cars so i think it may be bad battery or bad ground check those before you go there...

easy swap.
just remove battery and tray to give your self room.
Their is only 2 wires and 2 bolts that will have to come off when removing the starter.
I removed mine the other day ,painted the main piece purple, the motor black and polished the long bolts because I was bored.
You will spend more time getting the battery and tray out than removal and installing the starter.
I did not do any idle re learn when changing the starter either so you will be fine with that.

I have about 160k on mine. I will check the grounds before I replace it. The battery is about a month old.

HELP!!! I'm replacing my starter right now. I having problems with the 2nd (lower) mounting bolt. I just can't get the socket on the bolt head!! For you guys who have replaced your starter, did you go from under the car or under the hood? Did you use a socket extention?

Thanks

I'm thinking I do need an extention. I watched a vid of a guy replacing his starter on his 03 v6 accord, and he did not need an extention.
I do though!!!!! I only have 2'' ext.!! (that sounds sad)

Looks like I'm chillin till the 6'' extention ferry visits me!!
Thx

The extention ferry stopped by, all done!!
You definataly need a 6'' extention when swapping out the starter.
