SS vs. Auto(D5) vs. Auto D4
SS vs. Auto(D5) vs. Auto D4
Several Questions: My ideas are coming from my years of driving manual tranny and since they normally tend to give better gas mileage overall, I was wondering what was the consensus regarding the CL-S in the diffrente modes.
Would I be saving/receiving higher gas mileage, if I used the my Sport shift mode instead of the auto D5 mode when driving in the city/stop and go traffic.
Would it be preferable to drive the car in D4 mode in the city instead of D5. It seem that we lose power/torque when in D5 while driving in slow traffic (b/w 40 to 45 MPH).
Wouldn't driving in D4 give us a higher gas mileage than D5? Since the tranny wouldn't have to constantly hunt between 4th and 5th when in D5.
Opinions and ideas welcome

2. D4 would not help you out with gas mileage because the top gear is 4th...that means the engine will rev higher and thus use more gas. The point of the 5th gear(and well even the 4th but the 5th more so) is just for cruising and improving gas mileage by keeping the engine revs low.
