SS mode
While in SS mode, what is better for the car when slwoing down. Better for tranny to dowshift itself ? Or
Downshift for it ?
Just trying to get an idea, I had an Eclipse that was standard and was always downshifting it rather that just put in neutral and ride the brakes

W/ an auto trans in SS mode it doesn't really matter . Either way will work w/o troubles or problems . However w/ a standard trans , you should use the brakes to slow the vehicle . I know it stops well with downshifting however you are using the clutch to stop the vehicle . It's ALWAYS cheaper to replace the brake pads then a clutch and flywheel assy.

Yeah i tried both ways, and as stated above, not going to do the 3rd to 2nd downshift anymore, don't like the way it feels (unless trying to accelerate hard).
Our cars don't lag like standards do they ?
For instance if in 3rd in standard and slow down to take a turn without downshifting to 2nd, when you step on the gas there is this lack of power.
