Srt-8 Encounter

I was taking my sister to a bday party in san mateo and I spoted a clean looking black srt with black rims, tinted tails, etc. anyways I slowly passed it and cut in front of him. There weren't many cars on the road so he could have passed me up easily considering I was only doing about 75 in the fast lane, but he didn't. After a couple miles he got a bit farther away from me and then within a couple minutes I saw him gaining speed till he was right on my ass. I cut over another lane and waited till we were neck and neck. I glanced at the srt to see either the guy's wife or girlfriend looking at me, but both are windows were tinted so it was hard to get a good look. Anyways, the guy takes off so I downshift to 4th gear so I'm instantly in boost and I pass him by the end of 4th. We went at it one more time and the same thing happened, but the only problem was my sister who was hitting me the whole time to stop racing. Hey, at least she was early

congrats, srt8's are low 13 sec cars, so you're probably able to hit 13 - 13.2 if you get traction

nice. There is a guy around here who when he sees me wants to race. I never want to considering its a srt8 and i dont know the specs on them but knowing that a blown cls6 can take him easily feels good.

Nice kill

What planet you live on?

srt8
425hp 420/TQ
weight in either the 300, charger or magnum is around 4100lbs.
I've seen stock ones at the track run low/mid 13's.

CLS
260hp 235/TQ 3500 lbs
Only 600lbs weight difference but it's almost a 200HP difference.
Even in 6MT form a CLS will not have a chance.
Unless booted.

^^I agree. Unless you have boost you aren't taking any SRT8 that knows he's in a race. They trap 105-108 as I recall. That's not CLS territory w/o boost.

and that's probably because they don't know how to drive. srt4's run unadvertised 240whp in 2900lbs.. have fun.

No they can't. 13.8-9 at the track. An auto CLS will get eaten. A 6mt CLS will keep up, but still loose.
If you beat an srt-4 with just an intake then the other car wasn't racing, had a problem, was a fake srt wannabe, or just could not drive.

It's true, I was at the track two weeks ago and couldn't beat a stock SRT-4. Ran a 14.1 to my 14.3. I'm 6spd. It's weird though, because I've beaten them before on the street. Maybe this was a newer model or the guy on the street couldn't drive.

All SRT8's are 6.1L. The regular versions are 5.7L. Not sure where you got the 6.4L from.

Thats exactly right! No 6.4L The 5.7 is just the R/T. Wich I've ran against in stock form and lost quite bad too. I'm stock to though.

"Chrysler displayed a larger 6.4 L (390.6 in³) Hemi in 2005 and claimed that the engine puts out 505 hp (377 kW)."

i'm sure that's just a concept engine anyway; chrysler 300c SRT8's only have the 6.1L HEMI

Cool, thats the first I've heard of it! Maybe it's a crate motor! The 6.4 Litre that is!

I have to say I kinda doubt a un boosted CLS (Even with a few bolt ons)is going to beat even a stock SRT-4. Horse power to weight ratio is all wrong. I'd blame a bad driver before I said a Stock CLS can beat a Stock SRT-4.

SRT4 @ a proven 240 WHP stock = .0827 Whp per pound of car. 2900 LBS

CLS @ a very generuos 220Whp stock = .0626 Whp per pound of car. 3510 LBS

I know the CLS is rated at 260, and a SRT-4 at 220Hp. But the SRT-4 will easily put 240Whp stock, I've seen it many many times. Yes, in person I've seen it!

I'm sure if I went to the SRT-8 forums, the guys there would be like, ( Dang man, I lost to another Acura CL type S. Yeah I got him off the line but, you know how our SRT-8's fall on there face after 70 MPH. Thats were he totally tore me a new a**. ) Right!

I'm not saying a boosted CLS can't do it, but some of you guys here think the SRT-8's are chump cars that can't throwdown! Thats wrong!

What part of 425 HP don't you get! Thats .102 hp per pound. Even a CLS with 340Hp (wich I don't see too many of) has a ratio of .096 per pound.
The Math does not lie!

I don't think any average boosted CLS is going to take a SRT-8.

As for beating a SRT-8, Dam, thats awsome. Are you 100% sure it was not a R/T. I think thats more likely!

For sure it was a srt-8. There's another guy (italica I think) who has videos racing a srt-8 from a dig and off a roll. He pulled on them both times

I've seen those damn SRT-8's run 101 traps i've beaten them before no big whoop, the thign is when they are modded then its like racing your own car on 4psi of boost drastic difference.

To go from ~355-365whp stock to around 420whp/420wtq from some bolt ons and tune is a pretty big difference lost to one by a good amount that was modded like this but the guy was still impressed by how well I kept up, well he was, I still think it was like 3-4 cars =/

Just for reference I trap in the 102mph range.

Your car is pretty well modded right. Your probably under 3300LBS too. So your in the low 13's? I only ask to learn, not argue or doubt. I'm just not too familiar with you ride, other than your exhaust!

Up here at PMI wich is at about 4700 ft, I've seen the SRT8's trapping from 105 to 112's. I can't say stock or modded as I never got out to talk to them. They all might have been modded.??????

Regarding SRT-4s: Sacrificing style and comfort for speed isn't what Acura intended. Sure an SRT-4 can beat a CLS but it's still just a Dodge Neon.

If I wanted just speed I could've gotten an Evo or S2K for not much more then what I paid for my CL. But I'm fine the way I am. When the day comes I'll upgrade to a Porsche 911 Turbo and stomp all these kiddies in their souped Dodges out.

But to the guys that represent the CL quite well out on the streets...mad propz.

Low 13's I wish, theres no traction for that more like low 14's haha. For NA SRT-8's to be doing that well at that kind of elevation they must be modded. Yeah im around 3200lbs.

SRT-4's are no big deal, back before I had a few mods I was dead even with a slightly modded one. back when I was trapping high 90's.

I raced an srt8 not too long ago. got him to hear my sc whine. went beside him, he start punching and burnt his tires on a probably 20mph roll. I gave him a thumb up and ask him if he wants to go, he said yes.

sure got him by 2 cars. maybe more if i didn't spun off the line... he was like so he asked me to go again at 30mph roll, got him over 5 cars after 80mph... it's an empty street so don't panic...

yeah they can be beasts when modded up since heck I mean come on its a 6.1L engine if you can't use that to your advantage somehow then just kill yourself haha.

For example if the high end of those motors were as good as the CLS (which is alright not saying its godly) they could be making almost 500whp with that much displacement.

Enough to keep up with BMW M5's at least power wise, gearing and aerodynamics well.. we'll see about that one.

So enjoying the crank pulley eh Siggy, glad you like it.

I think they help, cause you wallet will be a lot lighter. So less weight!
