I'd drive that. My little bro wants one, which will suck if his car is faster than mine.

Amazing 1/4 mile time for the dough. Kind of like school in the summer time though. No Class. I'd have one if I was younger. Actually had a couple turbo Daytonas in the '80s. Quick and crude.

Call it junk all you want while it blows by you... It will run CIRCLES around our big ass BOATS.

And it will also WALK a CL all the way to 100.

I like it, but I wouldn't have it.

those who call it junk really need to go check one out. the SRT program really did a good job of making it not a normal focus w/ the interior and the fit and finish.

Its not a comparison. You are comparing a go cart to a luxury car with a little more than average power.

I didnt want a go cart when I bought the CL. For less money than the CL in 2001 , when I bought mine, I could have had a camaro SS doing high 12's for less money than a stock CL.
The 15 minute test drive was enough to let me know I couldnt live with an interior and ride and ambient noise with a design from Fisher price and body by mattel.....

It s just a fact that if you want luxury and performance, the price starts at 50k for an AMG, M, RS6, GS etc.

Something must be compromised fo a 20-25k car which is quick, not fast.

It's still a dodge and you cant compare reliability and prestige of the Acura name with a neon. How many heads will you turn with the dodge SRT? Its just another ricer.

no one is comparing them directly, they're obviously different markets-no explanation needed, just glancing blows about how well the car performs for the money.

how many heads will turn for an srt4? probably the same number of heads that will turn driving a cl. how many heads will turn for an sti or evo outside of those who know what they are? none? are they ricers too? quick stock cars are ricers now and not slow civics with airplane wings?

Well, I feel that the car is marketed for the young adult/teenager that want a fast and furious car, the dam wings on those cars are ricer imho. Also, i wouldnt pay 30k for that type of car when I can spend it on many other cars that are fast and stylish. And Believe me, i get lost of questions and head turns regarding the CL because its not common around in my city. Anything around here with big ass wings, rediculous large rocker panels and lower suspension and lots of stickers is considered ricer.

The 'reliability and prestige of an Acura'. I wish I had that. Face it, the CLS with the 5AT has no reliability and as for prestige, just read all the posts about it being a rattle trap, not to mention the total lack of decent styling. Sorry but that line just don't make it.

I think our CLS is ok but is sure as hell is not the ends all of automobiles.

The CL is just an average car with below average quality AFAIC.

If you're looking for a no-frills racer, then it's a good buy. It's a niche market, and is obviously not going to appeal to everyone.

However anyone buying this car has got to be prepared for the compromises that it offers - cheap interior, overal lack of refinement, and the typical Neon mechanical gremlins (ask someone you know who drives one). What remains to be seen is how well the SRT4s of today will be running 5 years out.

BTW, If you read my signature I have a 6 speed and sorry if you got a crapy 5sp-AT. Also the trany issue is less than 15% of the cars produced. The 6 speed is a different animal and it's more reliable. About the rattle trap its all dependent on many thinks such as suspension mods, stereo/sub, wheels/tire and other things. That is the other face of the coin if you opt to do all the changes that people on this forum tend to do to there cars. As per the CL being average, I think you are wrong, CR rates upper half read circle, which means above average and I am sorry but the SRT/neon, lancer and subaru will never make it into this category.

More of interest is the 237-245 lbft of torque at wheels from 3,000 rpm to 5,000 rpms!
