Squeaking sun-roof

I have an 03 CL and I have noticed that the sun roof area seems to be squeaking more and more. Anyone else have this annoyance? It seems like there is body flex in the car and the rubber weather stripping around the glass rubs.

I had heard it can be fixed with some silicone spray (?) to eliminate the squeak. Mine was squeaking like crazy, to the point where I wouldn't even open the shade anymore. With the cold weather, it had stopped. Probably due to a tiny bit of contraction in the rubber from the cold.

The sunroof rattle is a common annoyance and can be fixed by the dealership under warranty. I've had mine done when brought in for an oil change.

There's a bulletin they can do with some tape around the edges to make it fit more flush... but I also had another problem which I recently fixed too in that area. There's a thin bar that runs across the front of the sunroof opening which extends upwards when you power the sunroof backwards (wind deflector I guess). When the sunroof is completely forward, this bar is very close to the lower sunroof housing and will often rattle against it. I bought some one-sided sticky foam weather stripping and wedged it under the bar... no more rattles.

Yeah, what he said...

I had the same problem when I bought my '03 last August. Dealership fixed it with some kind of tape. Check it out and it will fix the squeaking.

The tape is actually what Honda put on the Accords to fix the same problem. Even with this, I sometimes notice some noise in the sunroof, related to flexing. When this occurs, all I have to do is armorall the rubber around the glass, clean the surface on the car (perimter of the roof opening) and its fine for a few months. Its amazing how dirty that seal gets.

and the tape doesn't last forever .. so don't consider this a permanent fix .. mine goes in for attempt #2 to fix the sunroof issue that has plagued Honda for 5 years now

Yes I have an 03 also and when I went into Park Ave for CT headers last tuesday they fixed my sunroof noise .. I still hear noise when the body flexes but at least it got rid of the annoying "rubbing" noise I heard when cruising at speed.

I just noticed it does it on mine. I had the roof open & closed it to park for a minute, forgot to shut the shade, when I started to drive again, I heard this squeaking from the roof. Guess the 03's are not fixed.

mine was done when I took my car in for the 30K service ... didn't even complain about any noise from the sunroof, but they applied the "tape" per the TSB. They also replaced both my headlights since they had displayed condensation on the trip from home to the dealer ... all under warranty and all without question.

I coated all of the seals on my car with silicone when I got it. Haven't heard any noise from the sunroof until yesterday when I washed it. Seems the seal froze to the roof. It made one hell of a racket. Now that it's thawed out it's fine though.

Sunroof squeak

I have a 2001 3.2CL. When the roof is tilted, it does not squeak. When it is fully open it squeaks. Go figure. It's not enough of an annoyance to fix it.

Chad -- ya I washed my car last week when it was freezing outside and even though I dried it off I guess some water froze in the seals and cracks around the windows (especially the sunroof, since it was easy for the water to freeze all the way around on a flat surface). When I went for a drive later that night I thought the car was falling apart!
