Springs

I just bought a brand new 03 CL-S. I know the S has a better suspension package - more stiff, but I want to put springs on.

Those of you who have done this, did it change the ride quality at all? This car rides so damn smooth, I don't want to mess with that.

I know on my old Eclipse, putting springs on it (only 1.8" - not a camber job) made the ride feel like I was driving a riced-out Civic, even though it didn't look that way from the outside.

Comments would be appreciated!

Dan

The Comptech set up that I have does WONDERS for the turning/cornering ability without doing much to ride quality. Yes, you are a little lower to the ground and will feel the bumps in the road a little more clearly, but no, it does not make the car feel riced out at all. It still retains it's luxury stance, just a little more aggressivly!

Oh, check out the Tuners Guide. I think that Soopa did a nice job of summarizing the mods available for the CL.

I put CT springs and sways on my '03 CLS 6sp. Car handles so much better now. Ride quality is a little less smooth on medium to rough pavement. You'll feel bumps a little more. But overall, the CT springs are a nice compromise between good handling and a smooth ride. I would also go with the CT sways. They make a big different in removing most of the body roll you'll feel with stock sways.

One last thing. Even though I had CT springs and sways installed and enjoy the improvement in handling, I'm planning on installing Koni yellows. I've heard that they provide a smoother ride than the stock shocks when set to the softest setting, at the same time, improve handling. And they're easy to adjust to stiffer settings when you need the extra sure footedness. Also, they will last a lot longer than the stock shocks.
