Spin out on the 110

coming home last night at 3 am doing about 60 my front right tire blew out and i spun out, damn near missed a pole and the side railings. car's fine. only the rim and tire are fucked. it was crazy how well i kept control of the car while spinning tho, it was like i was fucking drifting, but not as fun haha luckily, i'm alright tho, the CHP showed up and had some paramedics check on me and whatnot, and shit, i'm pretty lucky. just thought i'd share with you guys. here's another CL that avoided a much worse fate.

How do you spin out from a tire blowing out? Even at 60. I've had a tire blowout in other cars & even my Explorer doing 70+ & I had complete control, & just slowed down & pulled over.

Glad you & your car are ok though.

glad you're okay. in his defense the 110 is a very winding road (very fun to drive without traffic.) got a set of 03 type-s rims for sale. your boy edgar @ the muffler shop said you might be interested. pm me if you are.

Like m773 said the 110 is curvy and i was going into a bad curve and the rim is fucked up. i eventually hit an exit divider. the back part of the rim was wrapped around the suspension, so that should tell you something.

I see. Do you have any suspension mods? They may help in those situations.

Nope. I should probably consider it tho. This probably would have never happened in my old Accord with Tokico gas shocks and a 2 inch drop. That thing scraped likee hell but it handled like a champion, i miss that car :-( i just dont want to have to start doing the whole going into drive ways at an angle thing again, but if it could prevent this kinda thing any recommendations?

Better shocks, some sways, strut bar, & tires. You don't have to lower it.

glad you're ok! Nice car control skills - a blowout on a straight highway where you can coast to a stop is one thing, another story when you are in the middle of a turn...

Any idea what caused the tire to blow? Older tire or road trash. And who made the tire, kinda curious.

I had a similar situation but i wasn't as lucky as you. I had a 92 integra at the time and had my car set on cruise control @ 70 mph. I was on I-95 in south florida traveling north in the middle lane. My right rear tire blew out and the rear end started to swirve. It just shot directly to the right hand lane and I ran right into the retaining wall. Needless to say the car was totaled. I broke my left ankle and had bruised ribs. My wife on the other hand was much worse. She ruptured her spleen and had internal bleeding and had to be medivaced by a helicopter. she had to have emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. It wasn't a good day at all. So, I am glad to here that your'e situation turned out just fine. Man I miss that Integra.

Damn. sorry to hear that :-( i was pretty lucky to have kept pretty good control of the vehicle and i guess someones watching over me.

shifityourself - yeah, i got the essenzas today, they look nice, i'll post some pics when i get a chance.

g1underground - they were nexens, and no. no clue. that worries me a bit more...that i dont even know WHY it happened:-\

fuzzy - any particular products? i was looking at some neuspeed front and rear sway bars and the tie bar, but as far as shocks...im kinda clueless as to whats best for our cars. are the neuspeed bars even worth it? i know alot of guys have comptech bars and stuff, but i dont think they're still available what with them being closed or reorganizing. the tire part is covered, i got some N3000s with the essenzas, although i am a bit wary of nexens now...so i'll probably get some super sticky bridgestone potenzas soon.

low tire pressure will cause the tire to come off the rim, mine did that when i spun out @60 mph, i asked how it happened and the tire guy told me the pressure was too low and the tire came partly off and ripping the stem off.
