In the transmission but I don't recall the exact location. I'll have to check the Helms manual to find where it is at.

Yep, there are two of them. One located on the top of the tranny towards the front, one closer to the bottom also on the front. One connector is black, one is grey if I remember correctly. May I ask why?

thanks everyone but I have a 6 speed!! Why. because I am thinking of buying the "yellow box". This is a digital device that corrects speedo errors (up to 28%) it is spliced into the line between the speed sensor and the speedometer.

How can i reach that sensor, the picture is good but below what part of the engine compartment is it. What is the yellow box, and how can i re-adjust the odometer.

joe, you mean the $99 yellow box with DIP switches on them? Buy it and tell use what the components are and we'll go build one from Radio Shack for $5.

I really hate it when you know that you're being ripped off, but you have no choice but buy it from them.

Yes I mean the Yellow Box. It does not change odometer settings it corrects poor calibration but only going forward. If you change tire diameter you can dial in correction with the DIP switches. The $99 is for the efforts that the yellow box people put in to do the research, manufacturing etc. Its not a big price to pay. I am a techincal person but I myself at the moment do not have a clue how to make one and its not worth my time.

Is the purpose of this Yellow Box “device” really to correct speedometer error or is it to allow odometer fraud?

I’m not implying callous action on YOUR part, it’s just a general question.
I’m sure if you cranked the settings all the way down it would purposely read LOW on the mileage count....NO ???

Yes Shawn, there is that potential misuse. I myself want an accurate speedometer. The car that my 6 speed is replacing is a 1988 model so might believe me when I say I'm not concerned with odometers miles for resale.

Even if you slapped 18 or 19 inch rims on how can the 2-3 MPH diff.drive you nutz?... I am so damn busy going through the gears and keeping my eyes on the road I could careless for 6 months out of the year.
I mean, i can see if you had a digitally projected speedo on the windshield and it was always in your face.. keep us posted on your progress.
