i got a new wheels (moda r6 17' w/ 225/45/17) put on yesterday. i know that the speed will be 1.9% too fast. is there any way i could correct this?? can u adjusted the speedometer?? i call the place that could do calibrate the car but they say they only issue written paper saying that the speed is off. should i even worry about it or just leave it alone??? any inputs, would be greatly appreciated....

I don't know, so give this due weight.

1. Do you have NAVI?

2. Have you tried out the VSA?

I was orignally told by Acura that the 225s would mess things up, but I've seen a lot of people running 225s without trouble.

Are you concerned about the Navi, VSA, or the speedo error. The speedo is off with the stock tires, so as long as you know it is off, do you care about the speedo issue?

There may be a way to see if the Navi is off by "blocking" the Navi antenna, then driving the car for a while with the satelites "blocked".

I haven't tried this, so take this with a grain of salt...

BTW -- what pressure are you running in your tires *and* what is the max pressure that they will take?

GSXRACER: it may be possible to adjust your speedo but it may take some time for me to find out.On our RL's there was a small trimpot on the instrument panel printed circuit board, turning it slightly corrected the speedometers on those cars that needed it.I will check this out next time i have to get into the instrument panel of a CL.Give me some time to check it out.Jens

In any case you don't want any written document that says your speedo is incorrect (ie tampered). That will significantly decrease the value of your [purchased] vehicle and there are laws about disclosure.

Eric-L,
So you're saying that Acura told you not to put any rubber larger than 215's on the CLS, otherwise the VSA will not work properly?

I can understand the speedo being outta wack a little, but why would it affect the VSA?

I'm sure physics is involved somehow (torque, tire weight, revolutions), but the designers should have considered such changes to the tire size evetually over the life of the car.

Any further details you can provide?

Probably because the 225/45's are smaller in diamter than the 215/50's. that's why i wanted to go w/ 235/45/17's since they are a closer match to the stock diameters. But now im not certain if it will rub or not since I have springs.

235/40/17's or 225/45/17's once I found out which one works for me.
