Spark Plugs

I'm thinking of replacing my stock spark plugs with new iridium spark plugs. I've seen that many of you use Denso Iridium spark plugs, what has been your experience? What type of plug did you get i.e. 16, 18 or 20? Did you notice any difference in throttle response and gas mileage? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

Denso IK-20's! My brain feels like crisper throttle response and my gas mileage has avg. 24+ since new with best 28+ on a trip that saw a few over 100mph runs! Plugs are pricey though, would do other mods first like CAI! Good luck with your mods.

IK20's and I don't believe they really do a damn thing that's noticeable. There is no way they increase gas mileage anything noticeable.

FYI... The new NGK Iridium IXs are nearly half the price of the Densos. According to a person on the TL board, a NGK BKR5EIX-11 is an equivalent to a Denso IK-16 and a NGK BKR6EIX-11 is the same as a Denso IK-20.

I've thought about CAI mod for my Type S, but I'm concerned about water ingestion. What has been others experience been with CAI?

Concerns about water injestion in CAI

If you are seriously concerened (sp??) about water injestion in your CAI get a bypass valve.

Heck even if you aren't concerned about water injestion I would still get a bypass valve (a little precaution goes along way).

Again the surest water to prevent water injestion is to not drive through water higher than the bottom of your rims, if you do even without a CAI (and the stock intake) you're going to risk water injestion.

I'm running the NGK Iridium IX plugs equivalent to the Denso IK20's. I have experienced much better throttle response than my Zex plugs and slightly stronger acceleration. IMO, they are worth the $38 bux I spent on the set of 6(Much better than $84 for 6 Densos).

I got the NGK Iridiums from www.sparkplugs.com

the part number is BKR6eix-11 for the Denso IK20 equivalents.

Could somebody do a head to head dyno comparison of the Bosch Plat 4+ (or whatever they are called) the Stock NGK Plat Plugs, Denso Iridium's, and the NGK Iridiums. Oh yea, and maybe just throw in a cheap set of NGK copper plugs just to see how copper performs.

Inquiring minds would like to know.
