Sounds when you back up
dunno if this is normal or what, but when i drive a few feet, throw it into Neutral, then Reverse, i get a loud clang sound...until last night, i just figured it was the tranny going into Reverse mode, but my dad asked me bout it, and now i'm a bit paranoid...i have had no tranny issues in the past (knocking wood), and i find no issues with the tranny in Reverse...all is peachy keen...but i just wonder if others have experienced the sound when u put the car in reverse...and i only get it after i've proceeded forward, doesn't matter if it was a few feet or after driving 30 minutes...thanx guys.

Yeah, I get that too... sometimes it's louder then others. It happened on both my CL and now my TL-S. Funny though, it only happens on my Acuras, never on any of my other cars (or my parents, or my fiances).....
This seems to be the nature of the beast, esp. parked on an incline doing a reverse selection. I found if I shift into "N" and roll back when parked on an incline eliminates doing the "clunk". I also discovered that a nice quick motion into "R" and not a paranoid slow engauging produces no clunking. Sort of like giving it a no time to react thing!
