Something Interesting!!!

I was watching a tv show the other day that tested a corvette vs. the BMW Z8. the interesting things i found out in this show was #1. the corvette 0-60 is 5.7 w/ manual, we're not too far behind, that is not the 2001, or the Z06 of course they are much faster. #2 the Z8 is hardcore, so smooth and quiet, the only way the driver can really tell the wheels are breaking loose is to look in the rearview for all the smoke. #3. the Lexus 430 has the lowest drag coefficient of any production vehicle and it is a big car, not to mention touch screen stereo, automatic rear seats, fridge in rear compartment, oscillating ac vents. Pretty cool car, even though it looks like an old Merc. Makes you wonder when is Acura gonna step up its tech on the interior. Maybe they redesigned the NSX with some cool features.

all of that is bogus. the covette C5 does 0-60 in just over 4 seconds for the non Z06 not 5.7. You would know your tires are breaking free in a Z8 when they are screaming. And last the Honda Insight has a drag coefficient of .24, i do not belive that a lexus 430, be it a GS LS or SC could beat that.

hey i'm just restating what was in the show. the lexus drag is due to a complete underbody skid plate, nothing left uncovered.as far as the corvettes go I believe it was the first line of Z05's that they were refering to, i thought that sounded slow too considering that where a Z28 is roughly, but that is what they said. And the Z8 has 400hp and you can barely hear the engine when its revved up high. I can't hear the tires on my car if I have the windows up and the radio on, and it would peel the whole way through 1st gear and a little into 2nd before i changed tires.w/ the VSA off and in SS of course.

No

No, don't remember something on Speedvision. They did a head to head compro between Z05 Convertible and Z8 it was nuts because I think the were in France or something not sure, Mountains, snow, winding roads. where it got nut is they were driving these cars on icy roads at one part.

Yeah, it's a very nice car.... My father has one (LS 430), and when I go visit him I always take his car out and hang out with the fellas. PIMP ride man! NOT to mention fast as $hit for a boat! He got the ultra luxury package for another $12k = fridge, cool seats, massaging seats, etc...(too much to list)!

I saw the show.
I think it was called MotorWorld.
It was one of these low production-quality shows.

I thought the comment about not knowing the Z8 was breaking loose was kind of silly. It just seems like if you were performance testing the car you would be pretty in tune with what kind of traction you were getting. Maybe they meant an average driver wouldn't know, but it sounded like they meant their test-driver didn't.

As for Lexus, they said the reason the drag coefficient was so low was that there were underbody covers that smoothed out the airflow under the car.

Did they mention Z05?? There is no such thing.

The current iteration the the Vette is the C5 which means simply the 5th generation or complete redesign. In this group there is the coupe, convertible and Z06. Both the coupe and convertible receive the LS1 engine but the Z06 gets the LS6 engine.
