It's covered under your auto insurance policy's Comprehensive Fire & Theft coverage, which usually has a deductible of $100 to $300.

Yeah too bad u cant lock it up in a mall or other places.
The worste part about it is they didnt even do a good job getting the light.
They cracked the whole housing and only made out with the bulb, in the process they ripped my whole bumper off cracking it in half so half the bumper is hanging off..

From what I understand, the housing is practically useless to the theives. They're after the HID bulbs and ballasts.

How much does the bulb and ballest cast that they would sacrifice $3000 damage for it?

Sorry to hear that. Makes you wonder the nerve of some people......let alone parked in the "money spot"!!!! JESUS!!! I even read somewhere that that 'fad' had gone by the way side. Scary....I guess it's a good thing I don' tlive in Jersey or NY......I guess that's where most of that crime happens. Don't know what I'd do if that situation presented itself to me. I'd probably just stand there dumb-founded and by the time I was enraged enough to go kick some ass, it'd be too late. You get a lisence plate by chance?! Probably all happened so fast. At least you can keep your eyes peeled for those fucks, and if you're fortunate enough to do something about it...be prepared to kick some ass my friend.

Legit aftermarket HID conversion systems are quite expensive ($500+).

It seems as if Acura's front bumper design is easy to compromise. I haven't heard of any other car brands that have had this kind of problem with HID theft. (Although it might just be that TL/CL's are selling in higher numbers than other HID equipped vehicles...)

Hopefully this HID theft trend will curb once there are more HID equpped cars on the road.. (Altima, Camry, Maxima, etc...)

Dammit Stoned I knew this type of post was coming but it still hurts. (I _know_ how it must hurt you though). Living in the same general area I had yet to hear of the HIDS being ripped around here, just over the water in NY. But now that its happened I'll be glancing thru my windows more at my car.

Let us know the outcome, cost....etc.

Good Luck

That fucking SUCKS! I have been to that bookstore before too and that place is usually packed. That guy must have some big ass balls to do that shit out in the open.

BTW, if he was driving a lexus (whatever model), WTF did he want with your HIDs when he has his own. Probably for one of his buddies or to sell that shit.

Did you at least catch his license plate #?

I am almost possitive it was the maroon GS that took it..

I am taking it to my claims office monday to get an estimate.
I think alot of the HID are getting stolen in this area, i seen 1 or 2 at Park Ave Acura my last vist.
