Good lord, it's no wonder Acura is trying to spice up (read: SAVE) the CL by giving it a manual etc.--the sales for the year were off as much as the Dinosaur RL!!!!!

Say goodbye to resale values. Hell, people are getting new CLs for less than what I still owe on the car!!!!!

Don't feel bad JZ, I'm in the same boat...

Oh well, I still love my car no matter what the resale value is.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about the resale--at some point the car will maintain its value--after all it is an Acura. Plus, there still haven't been a whole lot of cars that have tweaked my interest in them that gives us what we have in our CL.

Also, while I will be very excited to drive the 6-speed, I really do like the convenience of the sportshift and hopefully the RES will give us just that little bit more of a kick in the pants we need. I would love a nice subtle bodykit, however, to give her just that much more of a sporty nature.

But, I kind of think the 6-speed would leave me dissapointed since the car will still be heavy and FWD and will never allow you to throw it around like a BMW or other well-balancedsports car.

This stats. do not tell anything about the quality of CLS. We are living in very weak economy. Sales are down on a lot of cars, especialy on luxury/expensive cars like RL/TL/CLS.
Today most auto consumers ( general audience ) buy inexpensive cars under $20K to cut back on costs. Besides, a lot of sales went to Ford/GM due to 0 % APR advertisment.
Remeber, that most of the middle class Americans buy cars under $20K, especially when economy is weak.

and don't forget, most people who buy cars over $30k want 4 doors...that's why the 4 door version of the cl sells so much better, even though they are 85% identical.

Dam Acura is doing better than ford. I saw on 12/3/01 that fords sales only went up 4% from last years sales even with there extended 0% finance. Looks like people want a better than a ford. So it looks like Acura is driving America and Ford isn't driving anything:P .

Wrong. Ford still out sells Acura by a huge margin in the US, just because Acura sales are up doens't mean a whole lot. 4% of Ford's sales equal more than 4% of Acura's, you're forgetting how percetages work.

Well - I am not sure ANY car company is exceeding their goals in the state of the economy as we have it. However ... it does matter that if ford grew at 4%. Size of the company has to do with revenue and amout of goods exchanged. Growth of a company can be a measure of their product and whether it is getting less or more appealing to the consumer. I would rather be Acura in this case.

In addition - as we all learned from the dot bomb ... profits profits profits ... NOT revenue revenue revenue

One more thought - does it surprise us that the first thing to take a hit are the 2-doors really? As folks go for cheaper ... they ALSO go for more practical (in general) ... for me ... a 295 6-speed CLS will do - thanks

Just my thoghts anyway ...

Well, Ford also has a bigger line of cars. From the God of all PIckups the F350 to the Mustang, Loncoln LS, and Crown Vic.... So Ford will always outsell Acura simply because of a broaderline.

The TL isn't a 4 door version of the CL.

The CL is a two door version of the TL. Come on guys, get it right :pfawk:

uh, wah?

if one is a different version of another, then another is a different version of the one, it is interchangable.
