I disagree. The stock ITR can be driven from the showroom straight to the track.

 

Just ribbing those guys with Integs.....but I bet you wouldn't believe what you pull at the track with an ITR....and it's nowhere near what you think!!! It comes down to the driver...not what a magazine says with their professional race car test drivers!!! If you can drive your ITR, straight to the track and pull a 14.8....I will acknowledge your skill and heap much praise upon thee!!!

Just remember.....average times at Sears Point...Sonoma, CA is about 15.5-15.7 for an Integ GS-R with HIE.....I've seen only one ITR hit 14.6 (80-90F)..he had HIE and he was power shifting the hell out of it....his shifts were flawless...I was pretty amazed and impressed. But people like him are few and far between. I think the guys that test the cars try to keep the temp around 50F.

Well, most of the ones on corvetteforum say they did so for a better sound??!!?? Personally, I think they're nuts, but that's my $0.02. Sounds great to me! I can see replacing the POS factory H pipe to an Corsa X pipe (very popular C5 mod BTW), but I currently have 0 mods planned. I plugged in the $20 CAGS bypass module (skip-shift eliminator) and that's it. Wish I could unplug the crappy interior and replace it You'd think Chevy would take better care of folks who plunk down $48K...........

Thing is, I'd hardly call $48K "keeping costs down". Hell, for $3000 more on the MSRP (not that much relatively speaking), they could build a truly great interior - without the seat rails that rub against the sides of the leather AND high quality plastic AND decent headlights AND a steering column lock that doesn't almost get people killed or leave them stranded! Maybe decent spark plug wires on their flagship sports car? How 'bout an oil pump that doesn't crap out on an otherwise spectacular engine or quality pushrods that don't bend like a damn pretzel half the time? Sorry - venting
