A long time ago (late 70's early 80's) at Daytona you could sign a waver and take any car on to the superspeedway. After the 24 hour race it was common to see carerra's, 930 turbo's, vettes, racing camaro's and mustangs just wasted in the infield. Not long after the first idiot died they stopped letting the public onto the super speedway.

But, he did just learn a $250k lesson.
That curve is crazy, look at all the tire marks.

Exactly, if he has the balls to track a Diablo 6.0....I'm sure he could fund another (maybe he'll step into a Murcielago).

it is my understanding that insurance will cover track accidents if you're there for instructional purposes (driver training weekend, etc.) i believe st farm and the other big dogs will cover ya.
unfortunately, if you have cheaper insurance they will cover for the same reason but will promptly drop you. and that sucks.
if you're just on the track jacking around in your diablo, your chances may be slimmer.

Only instructions you would be getting is how to drive fast around the track.
Unless you have a real good relationship with you insurance company (which still wouldn't guarantee anything), the chances of them covering a race track accident is basically slim to none.

Um, quick question...if so many cars are flying into that wall, why don't they take the wall out?

Its there to protect anybody who is in the center area during a race.
How are people sliding into the inside of the turn? It looks like a mild down hill right that straigtens out. If you trace the tire marks it looks like people are jetting into the wall on the straight.
BTW: I wonder if that's his daughter in the second pic...

You just answered your own question, the wall is there because cars tend to fly off the track at that turn.

Sorry don't actually watch too much racing as a sport.

One of my friends totalled his 993 at a track event and to his relief it was FULLY COVERED BY INSURANCE since it was a 'drivers training' event. Ha ha suuuuure, boy was he relieved. He still hasn't decided what to replace it with... He only had the car for a month

For those that think he can tow the car and claim he wrecked it on the street into a wall/divider... you don't think an insurance company is going to investigate a $250k claim?? He's fsck'd. What about when he gets nailed for insurance fraud after they find out he wrecked it at a track and filed a false claim. He's already taking a pounding in the wallet. No need to take a pounding in the ass in jail.
i'll give my two cents on the insurance coverage issue ... i had to check with my company since that's about all the action my car gets. basically what people are saying is that the event has to be setup as a sort of driver training or education class. the way you can tell the difference is there will be no door to door racing. the only way to pass is if you get waved by. at those events, you can get a track instructor to ride along with you too, but don't have to. at the track i go to a lot, as people leave, and the usual group stays there, we turn up the gain on the competition, but i'd never do it if my acura was my daily driver.
i have farmer's insurance btw.
