Some gutless MF keyed my car this weekend!!!

You know, when I left Vietnam is 1975, I swore I would never take the life of another human. Now I'm not so sure. Does anyone in the Houston area know of a good place to have this type of repair done? I tell you, this is enough to piss off the Pope!!!

That's why I have a $50 deductable for theft and vandalism, I have reserved myself to the fact that 99.9% of the public hates nice, clean, well kept cars.

Lock n Load!!!

Any autobody shop should be able to fix it.... Your dealer should be able to recommend a local shop.

This one is going to be on me. About two months ago, some clown backed into me and I had to replace the front bumper cover. If I file another claim this soon I could see an increase in my insurance rates. Hopefully, this will not be too bad. On this car it does not take much to get down to metal.

How long and where is it keyed? You know the smaller the keyed marked the more expensive it can be.

Sometimes I think it's better not to catch the person who keys your car. While I think justice should be served and the dickless coward who keys a car should be mauled, spending jail time for assault and battery is no fun...

I forgot...this should not increase your insurance since it is not your fault. It is vandalism and that is cover by your insurance. I would claim it if you got a low deductible.

please explain! I have a 5 inch keymark .. the dealer recommended body shop quoted me $450.

My philosophy on key marks tho .. lately has been, to leave it on there! In the past I'd always get it fixed immediately, but there'd be a new one almost within weeks, this one I've had for over 4 months, I think it acts as a deterrent .. people see the key mark, they think, oh well someone already got him, lets move on.

Plus, it doesnt look THAT bad .. I'm sure most of the guys at the chicago meet looked right at it .. dunno how many actually noticed it!

That really really sux I relally feel bad for you. It's like one of my biggest fears to come back to car after parking somewhere and having it keyed. I really would go ballistic on anyone I catch doing that to my car.

if you're going for the full paint job you're going to want to do under the hood, door jams, and everything, not including labor for taking the engine out, since these are things insurance will not cover, and will be out of the pocket, $2k.

unless, you can stand having the outside of your car a different color than these places, then go for it~!~!~!

He's right, I went through this very same thing (only I had just gotten my car back from the shop 4 hours prior to being keyed). The damage falls under vandalism and should be covered by your comprehensive coverage (less deductable of course). The Ins. Co. cannot surcharge or drop you for making this claim either. The damage to mine was appraised at $680 plus 4 days in the shop (30/day rental) would've put me out $800 without making a claim.

You guys might want to consider joining CarClub.com Aside from getting 10% off gas purchases, they provide deductable "insurance" up to $500, for up to two claims per 12mo. period. You file a separate claim to CarClub with proof of loss/repair/payment and they'll reimburse you up to $500. I filed my first claim for the damage this winter (haven't received payment yet, but typical wait time is 30-45 days). I'm just filing the second claim on the vandalism.

I had a good idea who did the damage, but what they were driving wouldn't have been worth the effort to deface.

Anyways, good luck with your situation.

I turned it in to my insurance company (USAA). The estimate came to $611.00 plus car rental for three days. My insurance will pay for the car rental as well. I just have to pay the deductible of $200.

Buy the way, my insurance rates will not be affected.

Like I have said before, "THERE IS NO CURE FOR THE DUMB ASS". They seem to be running rampant around here. Thanks for the concern guys!!!

Now I get what you mean Scorpious....hmmm, could be...i live where all the dumbfuck rednecks livein the City. He knows where, in fact, there was a skinhead, that I went to elementary school with who got arrested like 3-5 years back for making bombs in his house. They have serious Asian envy in the City...probably because we own most of the stuff out there!!!

I don't think skinheads particularly like Italians either... but my arms aren't hairy, so unless they ask my last name I'm OK.

What are you talking about? if your going to need to repaint the panel OR do a blend in the paint, it's not gonna be more expensive the smaller the scratch!
if anything, it would be more expensive the BIGGER the scratch!
