Sold the CL, guess what I'm getting now.

Please forgive me, I've been a CL owner since day one, back ion October of 2001 with only 6 miles on the odometer. Really loved the car. I recently sold my car with the BBK and TEIN Suspension already installed to a buyer, and proceded to get the NSX of my dreams. However, after a pre-purchasing inspection report came back that my "too good to be true" car was damaged from a previous accident, I got a little skeptical. I looked into the reg mantainenece and tire issues and thought maybe the $50+k NSX might not be as fun as I thought, for now at least. I thought about a 2003 CL-S with navi in mint condition for $19.5K with only 13k miles, and even tho i loved my car, i didn't like black, and wanted RWD. The new TL-S was nice too, but I hate the seating position in relation to the high dash, and I hated the fact that it was FWD. Besides, I'd rather wat till 2009 for the new Gen model to come out.
In between all this I was looking at the S2000.
Me and Bigman from the forums went out to eat and discuss some side jobs we had pending. I told him and we proceded to the Honda Dealership around the way. they had a silver one and we we peepd it out.
Now I am fully decided to get one, I am looking at a 2007 S2000 with red and black interior for $29000 before negotiating. He started at $34k, I told him what I was looking for, a 2005 or 06 with low miles (which ar a dime a dozen) for about $25-$26k. but I was interested to see what he could do.Maybe I can get him down to $28-$27k which would be an awesome deal.
Looks amazing, even stock, interior is so damn techno, and driver oriented, just what I wanted. 2.2 liter 4 banger with 8800k redline, 6mt, RWD and it was muscular looking. I already have a new wheel called the Legend coming out flor it, 18" x 8" with a 52mm offset up front, and a 19" x 8.5" rear with a 56mm offset. I'm planning on making a CF hardtop, which will be more of a fast back than whats already out there, to give the S2K that M-Coupe styling. Tomoirrow i'm gonna go in there with a downpayment and drive off with the car that day or the next. I am so happy, i can't wait. I'll still be on here as usual, but this czar is gonna be sick. Figure in a year or two, I might even get into the NSX, but this will do just fine for now.

That's cool, both are great cars, the S2000 is sweet but the NSX is sweeter in my book. You've found the answer to Acura's not offering any new coupes now.
have fun. I'm sure your mods will be the best.

I'm not getting the NSX right now, every one I have checked out (out of state) is fucked up somehow, needs a new clutch ($2-3k) needs new tires all the time (every 5k-10k) or has been in some sort of an accident, and repairing aluminum properly is damn near impossible and expensive. I want a fun to drive daily driver, hence the RWD and 6speed of the S2k. the CL-S 6mt might be funn, but is starting to age a little to much to justify me getting one now. I am 5'11" 186 lbs on a good day, but I fit just fine in the S2k I sat in. Gonna have to learn how to drive 6 speed even tho i can drive without a coach, i want to learn and perfect it on this car till I am ready for the NSX or anything else Hondfa or Acura have in store for the near future.

Jealous here. Test drove an AP2 S2k back when and i loved it. Such an easy and fun car to drive. The manual in the car is extremely easy, i went in there to to look at it and didn't anticipate driving it and i had almost no experience except for drivng my friend's '73 beetle around. Easy drive, no grinding but i needed to work on my gas and letting out the clutch coordination.

Enjoy it for all of the S2k wanna-be owners like me when you do get it.

how cute, you're learning how to drive stick on an s2k.

Meanwhile, I learned on a 2.2L 4 banger too. It's also an F. Except mine was ridiculously underpowered, and is a boat compared to the s2k.

Yep, a 2.2CL.

Congrats man, cant wait to see this new wheel of yours. Your newer designs have all been ridiculously hot (especially the 3pc and 1pc forged wheels.)

s2k doesnt really do it for me, and i would never consider it a daily driver with an 8800 redline. but to each his own. yea, i was looking at nsx's and they all needed work, and had 60K+ price tags. either way good luck, its sure to be an interesting ride.

Well, I'm not concerned about it being discontinued, I actually prefer that so It will remain the latest model. I would be pissed if they update it with a new model. And resale is not as big of an issue, My CL got crap as resale. Thats something you have to consider, am I buying the car because I want to sell it or drive it?

As for it having a high redline and all, I figure most people who drive the CL love to hear the VTEC kick in, and same goees with the S2K. I mean, it was built to rev, aslong as I follow the redline limit, i shouldn't have a problem. we'll see, the car is not as powerful as a vette, but def has other benefits.

I would never say anything is wrong with a discontinued car. It has a great track record.

Plus I bought my CL after it was "discontinued."

Yea, I never understood the negative comments you get about a discontinued car. To me there are pluses, it's rarer, there won't be an updated version out to upstage it. Values drop on all cars, and if you get a sought after car that's been discontinued, low supply and good demand can work in your favor.
I loved my Legend Coupes and my current CLS, all discontinued while I owned them, no biggie, all great cars. My 95 Legend Coupe I traded in on the CLS-6 sold in one day at the dealer at dealer prices.

The Legend Coupe sells 100x better than any CL out there.

Every time I'm at the dealership and there's a clean Legend Coupe in for service at least 4 employees make cash offers on them.

I don't get it

I like the G2 Legend coupe design better than the CLS, but I didn't want the maintenance costs as it got older, and my Legend was an auto so I went for the 6speed in the CLS when they came out.

Seems like all the best Acuras (and Hondas) are discontinued - all coupes- Legend, CLS, NSX, S2000, Prelude, RSX..

cuz the legend is a legend, pretty simple lol. i owned a sedan A/T and coupe 5MT right before i bought my cl-s, but i was driving by the dealership in my coupe one day and saw "6 Speed" and "260hp" on the windshield of a CL-S i was just like i NEED that car haha..once i found out it already had CT headers and intake it was over..

my sedan and coupe sold within like 3 days sitting at the front of my mechanics lot. but i found out that like 3 weeks later my legend coupe had a BHG so in a way im glad i dumped em, i know ill buy a 95 6spd coupe one day down the line tho

ok, the Bank check for my sold CL Just cleared, so now I am off to the Honda dealer to start negotiating the price. For a brand new 2007 S2000, what is the bottom line deal people are getting that you all know of?

I don't think people are paying much lower than MSRP for an '07. Invoice is about $31k

Didn't make it to the dealer today, was too swampped with last minute deadlines, but the sales person was playing with 32k, then he suddenly dropped down to $29k without me mentioning any #'s. I told him I was waiting for a check I received to clear and I was going to Def buy an S200, but I had to find the right one. So I wrote doen what he said on the back of his card and he saw me do it, didn't say anything about the $29k I wrote. At least if I go there, I will be ready to pay that price, but I will try to get him down even further by mentionign the potential purchase of a 2005-06 for significantly less and the cars only have a few hundred miles. Besides, its about to start snowing and I bet they are gonna have a hell of a time selling them.

Wow... $29k for a brand new S2000... sounds like a good deal to me. I'm sure these are their slowest months.
