Since some of the goodies from the NSX are trickling down to our cars (dual exhaust, more horseys, ) how come Acura hasn't made the CL DOHC. I think that is one of the main reasons why NSX is able to get up to 290hp along with other things of course. Not taking anything away from our VTEC SOHC, but with DOHC, we would get More torque, smoother shifts, and utimately more horses like the NSX if DOHC was used. I think those BMW guys used DOHC and that is why the M3 Kills alot of V8s.

 

in a sense... but not exactly... all hyundai motors are DOHC too... dohc vtec engines are really high performance, and not really suitable for luxury cars... they could lower the compression to make it quieter, but that's not Honda's style. the way vtec engines are built, its seems that dohc are made for the true screamers... b16a, b18c, h22a, f20a, and of course, the wonderful nsx c32a!

 

Unfortunately your argument doesn't hold a lot of water since for all intensive purposes the hp numbers of the engines are nearly identical (just add headers to the SOHC and there ya go; or compare it to the automatic equipped NSX), and there is actually more torque in our cars than in the NSX. The NSX just weighs about a million punds less than us.
